Poured from a can (no freshness date) into a Bell's tulip. A stunning pour. Beautiful clear orange-gold color with a massive, frothy, creamy head that has outstanding retention and lacing that literally coats the inside of the glass. Easily one of the best-looking IPAs I've had. The nose is nice and punchy. I get oranges, grapefruit, and a little bit of cedar.

The beer has a medium body, a nice firm, creamy feel, and lots of bitterness. There is a sharp, metallic, quinine-like bitterness with no excessive sweetness. Not balanced at all, but don't fret. The flavors include marmalade, grapefruit, lemon, and pineapple. The pineapple in particular seems to complement the intense bitterness quite well, giving the beer a gin-and-tonic-like character. The finish is nice and dry and lingers slightly. Very refreshing.

Off-balanced American IPAs are a dime a dozen. Yet somehow, this one works for me and I am proud that this beer is made in my home state. When fresh, it's a killer. Make sure you try at least one straight from the can.

West Sixth IPA on tap at the brewpub in Lexington.

Medium amber; very slight haze; durable off-white head; very good lacing.

Nicely crafted IPA, with enough malt load to keep the ample quadruple hop load from producing too much bitterness. Liked this more as I drank more -- a quality many IPAs lack.

Smooth, medium body with well-chosen carbonation.

12 ounce can poured into a pint glass.

A - Pours out a nice pale amber color with a thick, long lasting foamy head.

S - An explosion of citrus hops that does not fade as you drink the beer. There is also some hint of pine as well as malt.

T - The citrus hops dominate and give way to a bread like malt finish with just a hint of pine.

M - Very well carbonated with a very rich mouth feel.

O - My first West Sixth experience and certainly not my last. If you like a very well hopped IPA with a kick this one is certainly worth a try.

12 oz can poured into shaker pint

A: Light Amber color nice fluffy head dissipates to a small film good retention on the glass nice lacing as you proceed to the bottom

S: Resiny very biscuity malts too a little sweetness too

T: Very subtly hops a little resin a little floral/herbal than sweet malts that level out the hops in the end making for a very balanced finish

M: Medium bodied not too clingy did not notice palate fatigue

O: This is a pretty damn well balanced IPA is it earth shattering no probably not but I drank 7 of these back to back with almost no palate fatigue that is impressive in of its self. You really can't go wrong if you are out in an area with a shitty selection you will be fairly pleased. I like this MUCH better than the ubiquitous Lagunitas IPA.

pours a hazy caramel hue that produces a healthy 3-finger head.

smells of Floral notes that are a bit overpowered by sweet malts... caramel & light molasses

taste is much like the nose: floral, orange, sweet malts with a nice bitter hop note that lingers on the end.

medium to full body that is quite thick for an ipa.

I live in Lexington where this is brewed, so I almost always get a fresh sixer when I pick this up. when you open the can, the beer just releases out of the opening as if it's begging to be drank. Gotta love fresh IPA! I keep a few cans of this in my fridge at all times. Btw, my wife loves it too... huge plus (or is it? she drinks as much of these as I do)!

Poured from the can a cloudy amber, with a huge head of off-white bubbles. Beautiful crown of lace.

Aroma is lots of big flowery pine and citrus hops. Nice and pretty well stylistically accurate and agreeable.

Taste is sharp bitter (almost sour) grapefruit hops up front, with plenty of malts, and a bitter, dry finish.

A tasty and very enjoyable IPA, not really a standout example, but certainly worthy of a try for anyone into American-style IPAs.
