Appearance- deep, dark golden with a wonderful head out of the can , perfectly carbonated for a pint glass.

Nose- this brew gets it right from the start. Take a whiff- Bam!! Floral notes. Citrus. Pine (my favorite). I mean it smells like you just finished with the chainsaw! Outstanding, robust, in-your-face hops. Love it.

Taste- absolutely everything is there. The archetype of what I want in an IPA: solid backbone but not sweet or overpowering malt. I assume there is some medium crystal barley but nothing too dark. Certainly no biscuit or anything that doesn't belong in a great ipa. Hops. Serious hops. I would like to know the schedule on this one but seems a great deal of early hop additions as the bitter note is prominent. Finishes with some light citrus notes and slightly zesty.

Mouthfeel- just about perfect.

Overall- I really don't know what to say other than perfect . Absolutely nailed it , West Sixth. Although I haven't tried everything, I've spent a great deal of time on IPAs since I became sold on craft beer, and this on has it all. It should hold its own against anything out there. If you're a hop head then you will crave it. Fan-freaking-tastic!

This is a heck of an IPA! Drinking out of the can and diggin' it! This is one of the more balanced IPA's that I have had. There's definitely a burst of hops but its countered very nicely with a sweet malt profile. Tastes of pine and a little citrus. The mouthfeel is awesome; its really smooth and goes down super easy. Very drinkable for an IPA.

West Sixth is quickly emerging as a force in Kentucky's craft beer industry. This is there staple and flagship beer, but the Hellerheaven IIPA is also amazing. I'm ready for another trip to Lexington to hit up this place and Country Boy.
