Deliberation Amber on tap at the brewpub in Lexington.

Deep amber with good clarity and a fine head.

Medium body and carbonation.

Aroma: typical, if a tiny bit less malty than average, for style.

Good sweet/bitter balance leans more to the bitter side than an average amber.

O: well-crafted, but very mainstream amber.

Not the deepest of amber hues, the color is a brilliant orange/red with a bubbly fleeting head.

The nose is weak but touches of caramel malt and roasted grain can be found. A touch of fruity, lemon hops can also be found but even weaker than the malt.

The taste is quite well balanced with an easy drinking hops flavor melded to a roasted grain flavor. What's perceptible in scent comes alive on the tongue. The roasted malt shoves its way to the front and than the end is eased in with a fruity hoppiness.

The feel is dry but refreshing yielding an easy drinking and well balanced offering.

12 ounce can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It smells like caramel and toasted malt, along with some light herbal/floral hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like grainy/bready malt, herbal hops, and a bit of caramel. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and coating with a good amount of carbonation. It's a nice, easy drinking brew. It's a good brew overall, I won't have any problems finishing this 6-pack. $9.79 a 6-pack.

First had: can, courtesy of Mississipping. Thanks!

Poured into a West Sixth goblet (thanks again!), this was an attractive amber ale, an appropriate deep amber color with a nice cap of eggshell head that receded but never completely vanished; moderate lacing. Caramel malt aroma, bready, light citrus and floral hops. Nicely balanced taste, sweet caramel malts, slightly nutty and grainy, with lesser notes of citrus/floral hops, giving a moderately dry finish. Medium body. Standard stuff, but still quite drinkable.

Poured from can into Chimay goblet.

A - Clear, medium amber brown. One finger of fine cream foam.

S - Slight fruitiness, banana maybe.

T - Mild hops, smooth esters, slight spice, light malt.

M - Nothing exciting, pretty basic overall.

A decent ale, nothing special but don't confuse that as being bad. A good average beer, better than Bud any day.

Undoubtedly the most well-balanced ale in their initial portfolio, Deliberation Amber is the quintessential thirst quencher, never favoring malt, never favoring hops; for the uninitiated beer lover jumping smack-dab in the middle of Lexington's expanding beer scene.

Well headed with a creamy ivory-white foam stance, the redish barley-stained beer displays bright clarity with garnet highlights. Mid-firm head retention leads to an array of spotty lacing patterns as the beer fades sip by sip.

The balanced aroma profile begins with the rich malt aroma of caramel, bread crust, light cashew and malted milk. Not to be outdone, the timid sense of citrus fruits, light spruce, and slight wood notes matches that of the malt and creates an inviting scent without offense.

A highly consistent weave is sown from aroma to taste that starts as its malt-forward taste bounces onto the front of the tongue with the combined flavors of peanut, toffee, and fresh bread crust that's somewhat of caramel and brittle. The mild rise of hops only offer a slim minty taste that develops into a clean and woody bitterness with light grass and pine as the perfect offsets to malt sweetness.

With its semi-sweet retention, starchy malt texture, and medium carbonation- the beer is medium bodied through the middle palate before an extended sweetness finishes semi-dry with a minty/woody hop dryness and light alcohol warmth.

Deliberation Amber has an overall simplified palate makes it an ideal thirst quencher that doesn't overwhelm the senses with complication or exaggeration. It's surely a sturdy ale that will accompany an array of entrees and social camaraderie.

Can from trade. Thanks! Pours a very pretty bet hue with half finger light cream head. Aroma of nice caramel malts, fruits, and some floral hop notes. Taste is biscuits and floral notes from the hops, slight bitter with a nice malt balance. Light body and somewhat light on flavor but very sessionable. Medium high carbonation. Crisp finish. Not super special but nicely done in the style.
