I've had this beer on 3 or 4 occasions, and its tendency to give me a hangover more than the average beer certainly influences my rating. That said, it's not bad taste wise but it's not amazing either. At $10 a six pack it's not really a a great choice. I'm one of those beer drinkers who doesn't mind paying $7 to $8 for an amazing beer like Trappistes Rochefort 10, yet at the same time I still enjoy a cold Bud Lite after mowing the lawn. I confess I don't see the point of a beer like West Sixth Amber Ale, which is fairly expensive but not really all that special. Go big or go home, I say.

Undated can purchased earlier this month near the brewery.
Pours a deep amber color; clear with a large bone-colored head that has very good retention and leaves marvelous lacing.
Limited aroma with a bit more flavor. Very good sweet/bitter balance, shaded towards the bitter side, yet with more roasted malt than hop flavor. Surprisingly durable, hop-tinged, roasted malt aftertaste.
M: Exceptional; medium-light, airy body without wateriness; excellent, soft, medium carbonation.
O: excellent for style. Just trounces the other Lexington amber (Kentucky Ale) that preceded it.

Nice standard Amber Ale, but not noteworthy. A little disappointing given the exceptional IPA this brewer makes.

12 ounce can chilled and poured into a pint glass.

A - Pours a light amber color with a rich and long lasting head with significant lacing.

S - Floral hops with malt background.

T - Very floral with a good malt finish.

M - Good carbonation level - very neutral finish.

O - A decent enough amber ale, but a tad on the high side as far as price for what you get.

Not the deepest of amber hues, the color is a brilliant orange/red with a bubbly fleeting head.

The nose is weak but touches of caramel malt and roasted grain can be found. A touch of fruity, lemon hops can also be found but even weaker than the malt.

The taste is quite well balanced with an easy drinking hops flavor melded to a roasted grain flavor. What's perceptible in scent comes alive on the tongue. The roasted malt shoves its way to the front and than the end is eased in with a fruity hoppiness.

The feel is dry but refreshing yielding an easy drinking and well balanced offering.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy brown color with a 1/23 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, some hops. Taste is well balanced malts and hops, some caramel, but not as pronounced as in the smell. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall an easy drinking and sessionable beer.
