This is what I would call and American version of the ESB. The malt and nuttiness are there. The bitterness however is more piney than earthy, less buttery than the English version. No diacytel at all. Clean.
The bite is on the side of the tongue, a bit towards the back. It's subtle, but enough to carry the malt away. Caramel and light toffee make up the middle. Some floral spice up front.

A good beer. Would be very nice in the summer sitting in the mountains staring at the stars. Maybe next time

A - Poured out a clear, ruby color with a bubbly, off-white head of foam. It left behind thin, rings of sticky lace.

S - It smelled of rich caramel maltiness with citrus and floral notes. Some spicy aroma, too.

T - It has a sharp bitter hop bite with a spicy bite. It has a burnt toast maltiness with enough sweetness to smooth out the flavor.

M - It was crisp and sharp with a nice bite. A light to medium-bodied beer.

D - This is their new recipe ESB. I really liked it and basically polished off an entire growler by myself.
