A tip of our hat to the foamy suds once served at the Astrodome, this Houston classic Cream Ale is a pre-Prohibition style brew that is light, crisp, and easy drinking. Whether it's the big game or the big chill, Dome Faux'm is your personal championship beer.

Draft pour into pint shaker. Yellow straw color with thick head, which quickly dissipated. No discernible hop taste. Mouth feel better than an American adjunct light beer, but not terribly interesting. Glad I tried it, but probably won’t have a second. Post script - ordered a second one.

L - Poured from a 12 oz can into a Same Adams Perfect Glass at about 50 - 55 degrees. One finger light head on a moderate pour. Slowly fades down to a light fluffy or foamy film. A lighter foamy lacing. Pale golden clear color. A small foam head returns with swirling agitation as you drink.
S - Decent malt scents. Not overpowering, but not necessarily faint. Some light bread or biscuity scents. A little buttery. A light scent of hops in the middle as well. The scents come forward more as it warms up.
T - A nice fuller malt flavor than the scents would lead you to believe. Very little bitterness. Maybe a crisp finish of hops at the end…but it’s quick and fades. Slight notes of caramel to go along with the bread and biscuity malts.
F - Mouthfeel is thicker and butterier than expected. It has a nice body that sets it apart from mass-produced watered-down fare.
O - I grew up in Houston, and while I was never old enough to drink beer in the old Astrodome, this beer tastes and smells like the beer I remember at the Dome. It brings back a lot of memories. I’ve actually had this many time before, but it was before I started rating beers and properly tasting them. Before I always drink it right out of the fridge, and it was always too cold to properly appreciate it. This time I let it warm up a bit, and it did the beer a world of good. I’m partial to the nostalgia this beer is going for, so it’s in my regular rotation, but it is a quality mid-level beer, and if you see it, I recommend you give it a try.

CAN:
Clear copper body. White foamy head. Looks pretty standard.
AROMA: 6 row. Ale yeast esters. Hints of buttery aromatics - diacetyl is possible.
TASTE: 6 row. Creamy buttery malt flavours. No hop presence whatsoever. Hints of ale yeast esters with faint fruitiness.
Simple and shallow - not that that isn't to style.
TEXTURE: Smooth, coating, wet, creamy, not unrefreshing, medium-bodied.
OVERALL: A cheap summer slammer, but it doesn't unseat Genessee. Not a memorable brew, but a drinkable one. You can do worse at $7.99 a sixer, but you can also do a hell of a lot better...

On tap, poured into an oversized pint glass. Thin head. Some lacing, fairly minimal carbonation. Smell is mainly of grains. Creamy taste and mouthfeel. Goes down easy. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but good for a hot day (plus actual water).

Pours a translucent straw with two fingers of dense, white foam. Head retention lingers long past the first few sips, making it well worthy of its name and backstory. Aroma is straw, spicy hops and biscuity, crackery malts. Flavor profile is spicy, herbal, resiny hops and caramely, bready malts. Touch of sweetness on the back, following the hop bite at the onset. Mouth feel is a touch foamy and effervescent with a soft finish. It's medium in thickness. Overall, fair with a soft sweetness. Very easy drinking.
