on-tap at 8th Wonder Brewery

L: pale gold with white head, no stick or lace; 100% clear with little to no amber

S: green grassy hoppy with hints of bread/sweet malt behind it; this brew was definitely dry-hopped -- or it comes off that way. nothing overboard but definite grass

T: grassy hop bite up front but immediately sweetened out by a strong malt backbone; nothing about the brew tastes like "cream" until about halfway into the pint, and then suddenly this creamy light sweetness takes over the hops and it tastes like whipped cream ... again, it's not overboard, but that sweetness really starts hitting home over time

F: solid all around, very drinkable without being watery

O: easily my favorite 8th Wonder brew of the three I tried at the brewery (MCA, Alternate Universe were the others). it's much more hoppy than "cream ale" sounds like it should be, but the sweet cream notes shine through over time -- and whatever it is, I love it. they're supposed to start canning this summer, and I'll be searching for this one when they do.

Serving: On tap at Torchy's Tacos (Shepherd), served (appropriately) in a plastic pint cup.

Appearance: Nearly clear deep gold yellow. A quickly receding head of white foam leaves a nice hazy cap and slight lace.

Smell: Mild, mellow malt aroma - cereal grains, grass and and slightly floral hops.

Taste: Relatively full malt body, bread and biscuit notes with slightly fruity ale yeast notes. Grassy, earthy hops and bitterness provide nice balance.

Mouthfeel: Light, smooth body, lively carbonation.

Overall: Looks and drinks like a light lager, but packs enough hoppy ale flavor to be a lot more interesting.

A: Pours a clear golden/copper color. A two finger white head forms, and recedes in a second. No lace left behind.
S: A bit of grainy malts up front, lightly buttery. Then the grassy hops take over, which give it a nice lingering bitterness that is not over barring.
T: Again, grainy malts. Bready, and biscuit like. Sweet and buttery in the middle. Fruity hops, even grassy with some bitterness lingers.
M/D: A light body that is crisp and effervescent. Maybe a touch watery. Easy to drink, I can put a few away without a problem.

While not anything particularly exception, I am surprised at how much I did enjoy this. Certainly one of 8th Wonder's better and moreish offerings. Which is saying something from me.
