In the Alternate Universe, the malt planets and hops stars align with the yeast sun to create this otherworldly ale. Existing in a parallel dimension somewhere between an Amber ale and a Brown ale, this sublime brew has a malty backbone with a balanced hop bite. Extended conditioning produces a smooth and flavorful lib8ion. This superior ale is never too light, never too dark.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a finger wisth foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is excellent. Bready, nutty, slightly hoppy aroma. Some tropical fruit. Definite breadt taste. Slight roasted maltiness. Creamy chocolate taste. Moderate bitterness at the end. Very smooth. Very good.

Pours to a thinnish but permanent and well lacing head. Amber Brown. Aroma is Crystal malts, Brown sugar and a touch of diacetyl. Flavor is malty and slightly fruity and you can taste the alcohol. It's a departure from American ambers and browns in that the hop character is noble German. Mouthfeel is light medium and overall a very tasty and good looking altbier.

On tap into a pint glass, a thin head but good lacing. Pleasant smell and moderate carbonation. Slightly sweet fruity taste, pears and caramel. Overall, a nice beer for a sandwich.

Taste: Toasted brown bread with a hint of caramel; grainy in the finish
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A decent Alt but lacks some complexity

I can't say that I've had too many alts recently, but this seemed pretty true to style, not to mention quite good. All characteristics were consistent -- appearance, smell, taste and mouthfeel. Nice beer.
