Mouth coating Belgian, with a biscuity malt base. Good balance between the malt and hop bitterness. Finishes off with a strong spice presence.

Pours a half finger of head on a cloudy dark straw colored body.
The aroma is danky pine, lemon and pineapple.
Despite the high bitter content, the malty sweetness is ever-present. It has some nice spice with some tropical fruit in the background too.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Quite good.

22oz into a tulip. Pours a clear amber w/ a sudsy white head.

Aroma is floral and a little perfumy. A hint of pineapple and citrus.

Taste is floral with a touch of clean sharp pine. Belgian yeast softens the edges. Hop bitterness is balanced by the substantial malt bill. Has a vaguely tea-like quality I can't quite identify.

Mouthfeel is soft and medium-bodied.

Overall a well-crafted imperial Belgian IPA.

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. Pours a dark bronze amber with a fine one finger ivory head with great retentiona and lacing. Looks nice. Aroma on pouring dominated by citrus and tropical fruit and citrus hops; after pouring more classical Belgian spicing, coriander and clove and saison yeast with hints of citrus hops. Wow, quite unexpected and complex flavor. Starts with sweet fruit, citrus rind, leaning tropical and orange citrus, becoming increasing cherry and stone fruit esters with peppery spices and citrus hops developing to finish hot spicy with Belgian spices and peppery, mildly citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied with pleasant light creaminess and good carbonation. I've never had anything with this flavor profile before. There is a lot going on here, with sweet/sour fruit, hints of citrus rind, peppery and Belgian spicing and hops contributing more bitterness than herbal flavors (although it's hard to figure out where all the flavors are coming from, so perhaps this is also an unusual hop profile). Can't say I've been as startled but pleased by an ale flavor before. They say they are trying to produce a Belgian ale / American hop hybrid, and they nail it, but there is an intriguing fruit flavor underlying all that pulls this together. I found this and a couple other varieties 300 miles across state from me and now regret I can't try more from this brewery and soon. For me, a "wow" beer, I am very impressed.
