Unbowed and unrepentant, this free spirit makes no apologies and asks for no forgiveness. Infidel is an imperial Belgian style IPA that set the standard for the style. Its rich satisfying flavor of spicy citrus, pine and grassy earthiness are carried by a malt bill and abv big enough to run with it.

draught
Lasting, thin, off-white head. Medium, golden orange clear appearance. Slight dried apple? aroma, with subtle malt. Yes, this is a Belgian dubbel, with a solid hop bite. The IPA part is a bit of grapefruit peel. Finish has good malt, with a citrus bite.

Looks very red/coppery, very inviting

The smell is incredible, perfect blend of hops and belgian sweetness

The taste comes across very sweet

Feel is gentle alcohol and carbonation

Overall a really top notch beer. Would drink over and over again, that unique combination of sweet and hoppy is a perfect treat.

Poured from bomber into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a copper-amber color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head fades very fast to leave a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is heaviest of a caramel and dark fruit aroma of cherry and plum. Along with these smells comes some notes of boozy alcohol and a little bit of a Belgium spice of coriander and clove.
Taste – The taste begins somewhat bready and slightly fruity and caramel sweet taste with the fruit being of a dark fruit flavor of cherry, plum, and raisin. There is very little hop tastes upfront, but as the taste advances some hop of a herbal and grassy nature come to the tongue. At the end of the taste a rather strong boozy alcohol taste comes to the tongue and with a little bit of a floral hop and some spice, one is left with a warming and hot, lightly hopped, and somewhat malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is rather thick with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher. The higher carbonation is great for a Belgium style IPA (if you want to consider this an IPA), but with the hot boozy, fruity sweet, and light hop flavors, a thinner body and slightly lower carbonation level may have been a little bit better overall.
Overall – For a 8.2 % brew it is rather hot, and for an IPA it is rather weak. It was worth a try, but is not really a great Belgium IPA overall.

22oz bottle served in a big snifter. Not poured completely, so if there's sediment, it should still be in the bottle. Gift from a friend at work.

Pours a rich ruby color, pretty clear, with very little head and not a lot of carbonation after the initial movement. Smell is a little bit of toffee, some hoppy bitterness, and a hint of funk if I sniff it a few times.

Taste is very "imperial red IPA" in profile -- hoppy, caramel and toffee, some nut, moderate to high sweetness. But, it definitely has some funk, but it's not overpowering. Brett comes across subtly.

Mouthfeel is medium to thick, a bit too still. Overall, this is probably one of the better tasting Belgian IPAs I've had, but it could use a little bit more carbonation.

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip. Very cool artwork... no freshness date.

L: Hazy amber/copper pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head... falls fast with thick sticky lacing.

S: Spice and sweet malts... caramel and light citrus.

T/F: Sweet and spicy.. Belgian candy sugars... light citrus, tea leaves, and grass. Earthy... very mild evergreen, but mostly sweetness and spice. My first sip was 'ugh too sweet' but after a few minutes it started to grow on me a bit. The hopping is subtle... definitely not bitter. Creamy carbonation... light bodied.

O: Not bad and not sure what to make of this beer. Not much of an IPA... more of a sweet saison with belgian sugar and spice. I didn't love it... wouldn't seek it out again... but am glad I got to try it. Interesting brew.

Amazing brew, made better by the incredible nature of the nomenclature for this product.

Smooth mouthfeel, coupled with a light effervescent aura and faint chocolate, prune and walnut undertones provides an enjoyable drinking experience. Big plus as you can pretend to be a Christian crusader lording over the Outreimer realms while enjoying this timeless product.

A - Medium amber hue with thin, dense lacing and light carbonation.

S - Belgian candy sugar malt, citrus, all with some mild spiciness. Nose overall is on the lighter side.

T - Sweet malt throughout, some citrus, light spiciness, light pine bitterness on the back end, some woodiness, and some alcohol presence. There's an off-flavor that I can't pinpoint.

M - Thick medium body with gentle carbonation on the tongue.

O - Glad to have the opportunity to try this beer, wouldn't buy it again. (Unfortunately.)

Enjoyed this Belgian IPA in a large Piraat tulip. A burnt gold color shows the maltiness, but it's still pretty light mouthfeel in the digestible style of the Belgians, with an equally frothy head. Smell is fruity esters and hoppy, herbal and citrus. Taste is similarly hoppy and estery, but the hops are more continental, with a herbal finish that is just of touch sour / over-ripe fruit. Not the cleanest finish, but overall, as a fan of fruity belgian yeasts, complimented with a biere de garde malt base, it's a nice hoppy spin on a farmhouse.

For a split second I thought this was the big fruity flavor of Mosaic or Nelson Sauvin hops-- but then it turns into some kind of spoiled fruit juice. It even has the suspicious carbonation of bad fruit. Aroma is indescribable. Is there such a thing as a metallic smell?

Well, this could be spoiled though it doesn't quite have the usual bitter-nasty bacterial taste. But as a warning to others, I bought this at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
