Pours an effervescent copper/auburn with a thumb of cream colored head. Stellar head retention & lacing, good looking brew!

S: Breadyness & toastyness, but in modest amounts

T: Biscuitty malt, faint leafy & herbal hops, much toastyness up front. Dryness, herbal hoppyness, pear & apricot notes as this warms. Finishes dry, toasty with leafy hops, & pears

MF: Medium bodied, slightly sharp carbonation, nicely balanced. Carbonation mellows out over time

So easy to drink, a nice Marzen, I would love see this on draft

Pours out to a generous head that lasts and a hazy deep copper color. Aroma is strange, smells of toasted malt and sauerkraut (???). Flavor is toasty, dry for the style and has a nice soft, easy noble hop bitterness to balance it all out...but it has a sour twang that sort of confirms what I detected in the nose. Mouthfeel is light-medium and just about right. in summary this is a beer that hits many of the style points, is drinkable, but I suspect there is a bacterial infection causing the off characteristics.

I will re-review this beer on tap or in a later bottled batch as soon as I have a chance. I bet this bottle is not representative of the product at large.

Stay tuned.
