Some notes to pile on my initial rating. This bottle is 9.9% ABV

Pours chestnut hued with 3+ fingers caramel colored head, over gassed. Great head retention and lacing

S: Chocolate, cocoa, roasty

T: Follows the nose, dry and little leafy hops too up front. Cocoa & iron as this warms, dry, roasty. dark chocolate as well. Finishes dry, with cocoa, a touch of coffee, a little caramel

MF: Medium bodied, warming, firm carbonation, but not as bad as it looks; warming

Drinks okay, this is better on tap, but worth a go regardless

First review from the east coast. A little too roasty, I would prefer more chocolate, less bitter

Such a good beer. My favorite seasonal from Core. Hides the alcohol well for a 9.6 with big rich notes of cacao, coffee, tobacco in the aroma and flavor. Slightly course is only drawback but not awfully so. Faint leathery finish.

A very good representation of the style. Full bodied, a full head of golden brown foam. A very pleasing aroma and mouth feel; full of chocolate and a touch of coffee. One of my favorite brews from this company.
