A nod to the late and great Canadian author Farley Mowat, Viking Grave stout is inspired by his many novels over the years. Approachable and flavourful, this beer is easy to drink and easy to love. Read the full blog post about this beer.

On-tap at Bellwoods.
The beer is black, obviously, with a very large tan head. Great retention.
Nose contains cocoa and roasted malt.
The most dominant flavour is cocoa. Specifically cocoa, rather than chocolate generally. Something about the taste actually seems chalky or powdery like cocoa. That doesn't sound good, perhaps, but it is nice. A bit of dark fruit and some caramel.
Medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation level.
Overall, good. Hard to say without having them side by side but I probably prefer this to Grognard.
