On tap at the brewery, into a branded tulip.
Unfiltered golden orange with a generous white head and good retention. Some splotchy lace. Beautiful nose, really getting both sides of the saison-tripel integration here. Sweet, lightly spicy and some citrus. Some pepper and perhaps on the maltier side of the balance. Taste takes on more of the saison character initially, but maltier and and sweeter into the finish. A bit of brown sugar, some grains, light fleshed fruits and some pepper again as the nose suggests. A bit phenolic as well. Fairly full feel, medium high carbonation and spicy into the finish. A quick slice of alcohol near the end of each sip as well. An excellent offering, something I know they aren't planing to do again, but something which I hope is recreated in some capacity.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery. Looks and tastes very much like the farmhouse, with similar colour and almost the same funk. The aroma is initially very rich. Pappery and ginger. I liked the farmhouse or the dubbel on their own merits. Still good drinkability. Ok mouthfeel, with the addition of more malt.

This is a blend of Bellwoods' Farmhouse Ale (Saison) and a Tripel that they are brewing. It seems closer to the Tripel style to me, so that is where I am slotting it - hard to classify.
On tap at Bellwoods.
Beer is a caramel colour, with a small white head that is gone quickly.
Sweet malty scent, with light fruit. Somewhat floral. Some caramel is present as well.
Taste consists of light fruit (peach, lemon) with some honey and spice. Fairly dry, assumedly the result of the saison. Quite good - no one flavour stands out strongly, but the product is good.
Moderate carbonation, full bodied, quite smooth.
Overall, a good beer. The mix between saison and tripel does not end up being as exciting in taste as it sounds in theory, but it is an enjoyable beer that I would very happily have again.
