Dark brown colour, near black, whisps of bubbly tan head, no lace to speak of. Smell is full of roast, liquorice also quite present, bits of chocolate aas well as coffee in the mix as well. Taste is nice and roasty, coffee flavours up front, bits of hop as well, pretty nice bitterness as well, liquorice and chocolate, only subtle sweet points. Lightly carbonated, medium cask feel. Solid and drinkable stuff here I would certainly order again, and nice dry roasty porter.

Cask Days 2012. Very drinkable and very well roasted. Very roasty aromas, some toast smell. Some burnt parts in the finish. Black with no head. A good choice for a cask and nice for the style.Medium mouthfeel. A turn to something different for Bellwoods.

On cask at Cask Days 2012, into a pint glass.

Dark brown, mahogany highlights. Deep brown bubbles for head. Nose of chocolate, mild dark fruits, and some subtle coffee grain notes. Palate has more roast, milk and dark chocolate, lighter dark fruit character and drying dark malt character. Lighter medium body, low carbonation. This would make an excellent regular offering anywhere, I'd have multiples of this again if possible.

On cask during Cask Days 2012.

Beer is very dark brown, almost black. Some bubbles on top, but no real head.

Given the setting (somewhat cold and outside), I found it hard to get much of an aroma from this one. Some roast, wood and burnt caramel.

Taste has some roast, a bit of smoke and a woody flavour. Caramel malt, slightly bitter. Almost a burnt marshmallow taste.

Medium bodied, low natural carbonation. Worked well on cask.

Overall, pretty good. I would like to try this again in a larger amount and different setting.
