Bottle from the brewery, 500ml into a tulip. Bottled April 3 of this month.

Lightly hazy golden yellow, white head with fluffy and sticky lacing. Nose of juicy pineapple, mango and tropical fruit notes. Light grass/dank, but its way in the periphery. A touch of sweet malt character, but the hops are the show. Palate has more Galaxy character, juicy tropical notes, pineapple rind, slight grass and herbal character. Perhaps a bit of pilsner malt in this as well, along with the lightly toasty pale malt. Moderate bitterness, lighter medium feel. Although not the greatest display of Galaxy hops, this is quite nice.

Bottle from the brewery, bottled this very month. A controlled subdued creamy orange citrus. Very drinkable and refreshing, but I would like more bold hop taste featuring everything the hop can give me. I guess that's why they call it a pale.Good and can be better.

Bottle: Poured a hazy bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of fruity and citrusy hops is quite nice with some floral undertones. Taste is also dominated by fruity hoppy notes with some citrus notes with light dry caramel malt backbone with not much residual sugar. Body is full with good carbonation. Love the freshness and the fruity notes of the Galaxy hops and the balanced level of bitterness.

Bottled on April 3, 2013. Poured in to Bellwoods tulip.

A - Hazy medium yellow with a thin layer of white head.

S - Mango, pineapple, peach and tangerine aromas accompany a slight honey malt sweetness. Very fresh and juicy nose.

T - A moderate bitterness for the style accompanies peach, tangerine and mango flavours. The palate falls short of the wonderfully juicy nose but there is still a nice tropical and citrus fruit profile with a slight caramel malt sweetness. Some muskiness comes through as well.

M - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottled April 3, 2013. 1 day old.

Cloudy yellow, quite light hue. Moderately sized white head. Head fades fairly quickly. Some lace.

Nice aroma. Some tropical and citrus and fruit. Mango, passionfruit, a bit of citrus. A bit of a sticky scent. The aroma is not strong, but is very pleasant. I am not particularly familiar with the galaxy hop and the scent is rather unique to my nose.

Taste is like the nose. Passionfruit, peach and a bit of mango. Also a bit of a grassy flavour. A bit sticky. Not complex, but quite enjoyable. Not a lot of malt character, perhaps a touch of bread.

Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, very slightly oily.

Overall, really quite good. Not a huge or powerful flavour, but really pleasant and interesting.

500ml bottle picked up from the brewery. Lots of sediment noticeable in the bottle, I'm pretty sure this is bottle conditioned but no mention of that. The pour reveals a hazy, super pale straw color with huge pillowy white head that lasts a long while. Huge chucks and trails of lace cover most of the glass. The aroma is redolent with tropical fruit, with a bit of bready, crackery malt in the background. Lychee, pineapple, passionfruit, ruby red grapefruit, ginger and mango hop flavors abound in the taste. The sweet, dry, fruity hop onslaught is balanced by a diminutive, clean pale malt profile. The mouthfeel is light bodied with a light, creamy carbonation. Huge hop fruitiness in the dry finish. Long lasting moderate to light bitterness as well.

This is a fantastic Pale Ale showcasing one of the most delicious hops around imo. Tonnes of hop aroma and flavor paired with a light bitterness - awesome. Denifinitely worth seeking out if you can get to Toronto.

Like our own, sun is at the center of this Galaxy; somewhat hazy though still transparent, the beer shines bright with yellow and golden tones. It looks like a great, light accompaniment to a warm day. But don’t always believe your eyes – the intensity of a beer’s colour is not necessarily a reflection of the intensify of its flavour...

As is evidenced by its piercing, pungent bouquet. Fresh but bitter, it displays perfumy floral notes plus pithy citrus fruit. Fresh grass clippings are undercut by lemon zest, orange juice and morning grapefruit. Like walking through a garden in full bloom, fresh-squeezed juice in hand.

The taste is a bold, plump yet surprisingly soft expression of fruits of all kinds: juicy peach and passionfruit, sweet apricot preserve, under-ripe pineapple, and big honking slices of ruby red grapefruit. Grass and oily herbals are never far from mind either.

It can feel as if fresh grass clippings were stuffed in your mouth, but lemony notes wash those away like a cleaning polish (which, coincidentally, they might resemble were the alcohol not so calm and composed). The zest and acidity are refreshing, despite that the citrus notes can sometimes feel dry and bitter like the rind of the fruit.

Bellwoods Galaxy is like a relaxing, sunny spring day in a glass - a bottle of this will help you reach your full potential for unwinding. It is also a ringing endorsement for the amped-up alpha acids and tropical fruitiness of Galaxy hops. What's more, it goes to show that the respect and spotlight of nature and simple ingredients yields the utmost quality.

Bottle dated April 3, 2013

(4.5) A: Slightly hazy golden-straw colour with a tall and incredibly creamy, bubbly, and dense head. Very good lacing that clumps against the glass.

(4.5) S: Dry pine, lots of mango, pineapple juice, fresh buttered bread, bit of sweet toffee, and an earthy-mossy aroma. This is real potent as I could smell the opened bottle from a couple feet away. Very fresh with bold aromas that can be singled out – I’m starting to realize this is standard for Bellwood’s.

(4.0) T: Similar to aroma with pine, tropical fruits, but more of a grain-like taste as opposed to the heavily buttered bread the aroma indicated. Moderate bitterness throughout and finishes with a noticeable dryness. Not as bold a taste profile as the aroma indicated but still very good.

(4.0) M: Lighter bodied with a moderate carbonation. Fairly crisp and clean with not a great deal of oily/slickness.

(4.0) D: Bellwood’s really seems to hit it out of the park when it comes to appearance and aroma and this offering is no different. Taste and mouthfeel were both good but just couldn’t match the sight or smell.

Hazy pale golden colour, 1.5 fingers of white head, quite a bit of lace here as well. Smell is packed with citrus fruit, grapefruit, tangerine, tropical throughout with a lingering presence of sugar cookie like malts, pineapple rounds out a fairly hoppy nose. Taste is dry bitter hops up front followed by bready malts, quite bitter, grapefruit and tangerine mid palate into the finish and aftertaste. Light-medium drying carbonation, medium body and a bit oily. Another solid addition to the monogamy series, really quite drinkable.
