On tap at toronado sd. Not to be confused with evil twin Freudian slip. Pours a blend of deep red and lighter amber, slightly translucent with a quickly disappating head but a foam ring remains around the glass, leaving lacing. Smells sweet, bourbon up front with that lovely toasted coconut and toffee aroma characteristic of ba barleywines. Taste has all that but with a hop bitterness and the present but pleasant boozy burn to accompany. Maybe a slight hint of piny hop flavor. Very bourbon forward and toasted coconutty, which Is exactly what I love in a ba barleywine. Toffee, caramel malt sweetness. Sweet, but the sweetness gets layered amongst the warm booziness and hop bitterness so as not to seem burdensome. I'm guessing 10-11% abv. Booziness Detracts from the drinkability a bit, but is not hash or solvent-like. My first beer from a brewery I know nothing about, and I am impressed.

Poured a chilled 22 oz bottle and watched a nut brown elixir stream into the glass.
Aroma of an atypical barleywine with some nice boozy burbon and woody gorgeousness to it.
Slight white head - almost none.
First mouthful gave a full bodied thickness and a slight sweetness which then turned to a somewhat boozyness followed by a moderate bitterness. This is like a cross between a barleywine and an IPA as there seems to be a fair amount of hoppiness. All in all, it is a very unique treat and definitely worth the purchase. In fact it's worth getting a few more bottles to cherish time and again with good friends.
Highly recommend this beer. You will not be disappointed.

Attractive dark coppery amber in the snifter. A fine foam, creamy mouthfeel, and plenty of lacing in the glass. Big vanilla flavor and aroma is really nice. Hot with alcohol, but it's part of the pleasure in this case. It's really a mixed drink.
Lots of malty richness with a smooth blast of booze. A sweet note but a dry finish. The hops are fragrant and just bitter enough to give it an edge. The best kind of caramel flavor, like a high-priced candy with a shot of bourbon in the center. Every sip is a pleasure with this stuff. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Baron's Market on West Point Loma Blvd. Price was $14. A great beer if you have the bucks.

Poured into a snifter, the beer shifts in garnet hues. Gem-like in color and clarity. A dense pancake-batter head plops itself atop the brew and sticks around for the long haul.
Smells like an old-fashioned cocktail. Barrel-aging is very apparent in the nose. A base of caramel, toffee, dark cherry and orange peel is spiced with vanilla and maple-rich bourbon. A kick of alcohol heat keeps you from taking deep whiffs. Base layer of spicy, floral hops.
Much more hop presence in the flavor. Begins sweet, a blend of caramelized sugar, oranges and cherries. Aged oak wafts around the palate while caramel does its thing. The swallow brings a flash of bitter, floral hops that takes the sweetness down a notch. Finish of sweet maple and vanilla on the back of the tongue and bitter orange peel on the sides. Like a good manhattan.
Almost creamy medium body, silky mouthfeel. Gentle pokes of carbonation; less-than gentle pinpricks of novacaine alcohol numbness. More noticeable on the tongue than anywhere else. And what would you expect at 20-proof?
Keeps getting better and better as it warms. Maybe just a touch too much hop bitterness, but still. Great balance of sweet and bitter, beer and barrel. Very impressive showing from a fairly new brewery.

Bottle pour for New Brew Thursday's 3rd Anniversary event held at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a clear copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, vanilla, bourbon, and wood. Taste is much the same with a woody and bourbon flavor on the finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a decent barrel aged presence.
