12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. My second beer from 3 Sheeps Brewing, and my first beer in the American dark wheat ale style. Acquired a single bottle of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Jewel.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a dark chocolate brown; nearly opaque in the glass with just a bit of cola colored hues showing near the surface. One finger of bubbly mocha head. Leaves behind lots of nice frothy scattered spotty lacing. Looks pretty nice.

S - The aroma doesn't differentiate too much from what the typical American Black Ale, or Black IPA would smell like - lots of dark cold coffee bean roast, and creamy malted milk chocolate. Malt roast is the dominant trait here. Not terribly intricate, but pleasant.

T - Taste follows the aroma - plenty of cold coffee bean roast and lots of creamy malted milk chocolate. Average, but pleasant, intensity and depth of flavor.

M - The feel is smooth, creamy, and easy drinking. Moderate roast / bitterness leftover on the palate. Medium-bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, a solid introduction to the style, and without knowing any better, I'd say it's a damn fine representation at that. Definitely looking forward to trying more from this brewery.

Pours very dark brown to black with a thin, lasting, tan head. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of coffee with a wheat tang.

The taste is of sweet chocolate with coffee roast. It has a fruity (orange?) wheat tang in the finish.

It is smooth and pretty silky.

An interesting, easy-drinking, well-balanced, dark wheat ale. Not "baaad" at all!

Interesting dichotomy between the roasted black notes and the light body of the wheat. No head. . . smooth, mild chewiness. good entry for those looking to try their first black beer.
