Formerly Rebel Kent The First
Every sip of Rebel Kent is a science experiment in your mouth. We’ve always been fascinated by the Abbey Single, the beer of choice for Belgian monks working the fields. They were low in alcohol and high in flavor, but had one problem: they were cloyingly sweet. So we hit the books to develop a modern take on that classic idea. We found our answer in an unlikely place: the human tongue. We learned that our palates experience flavor in stages: sweetness at the front and spiciness at the back, and we designed a beer that follows that pattern. The sweetness from the Belgian yeast hits first, and is quickly balanced by a rye-malt spice, leaving you with a clean palate, ready for the next science-y sip.
This is our daily drinker, an amber ale for today’s hard workers. It’s a nod to our brewing ancestors: the rebel monks of the fields.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a small off white head. Smells of caramelized grain. Tastes of creamy caramelized grain with some fruit notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

12 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours a light amber/brown color with a fluffy head. Aroma and flavor feature caramel/bready malt notes with some spicy/herbal hops. Some fruitiness as well - dark cherry or fig, surprisingly. Also bubblegum (which is incongruous, IMO). Overall it's a unique and fairly tasty red ale.

Appearance: Pours a medium to deep orange color with a strong off white head. SRM of 13. (3.75)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of bread with a strong and sweet caramel undertone. (3.75)
Flavor: Moderate flavors of bread with a slightly sweet caramel undertone. Mildly bitter but ultimately sweet. (3.75)
Feel: Medium-body, lower carbonation and a bittersweet finish. (3.75)
Compared to 3 Sheeps Armchair Quarterback 11/2022: Pours lighter, milder aromas. More smooth caramel. Less bread and amber aromas.
Compared to Oliphant Rusket Red 11/2022: Pours similar, stronger aromas. More smooth caramel. Less brown bread and toast. Sweeter.
Overall: A pretty nice Amber Ale here. Not as much amber as I expected and leans more toward a smooth caramel flavor. Light, dry, and drinkable. (Rating: 3.70)

I got a bottle of this beer off the single shelf from a beer store in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, which i drank after a 10hr drive. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had sweet malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle caramel malt presence with a mild hop finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Day 3 of the advent calendar 2019.
A lovely take on an amber ale. Lots of carbonation but no head stuck around. Sweet and yeasty nose-- great.
Starts yeasty with a deep malty flavor and a slight bitterness to finish. I didn't detect any spices of note, but the overall effect was certainly pleasing.

This 12oz. bottle poured a very nice copper amber color. It is a bit dark but clear enough to watch the carbonation. There is a one finger cloud of off white-amber foam the settles back to a thin layer with lacing up the sides of the glass.
The smell is a bit quiet, slightly malty.
The taste is very nice, sweet malts, caramel, a slight breadyness, giving way a very slight but appealing bitter finish.
The feel to me is light to medium carbonation and a creamy texture on my tongue.
This is what I hope for in an Amber Ale, a little sweet, a bit bready, slightly bitter with a creamy feel. This is one of six, I am looking forward to the other 5!
