12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. My first beer from 3 Sheeps Brewing Co., acquired as part of a mixed six pack at the local beer store.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a nice semi-dark coppery orange colored body with some okay clarity to it and just under two fingers of thick frothy off-white foam for a head. Nice fat scattered lacing. Looks pretty nice.

S - Smell is of sweet caramel malt, earthiness, tea leaves, pine, green apple, some soapiness, peppers, and lots of very grassy / herbal / vegetal smelling hops. Smells pretty damn nice to me.

T - Definitely not a ridiculous hop bomb like so many other IPA's, but this one has a nice balance. Green apple, caramel / pale malt breadiness, and lots of dirty / earthy / herbal hops. Some pine and faint grapefruit.

M - Feel is sticky, bitter, bready, and resinous. Medium-full bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, it's a solid IPA. Nothing new or groundbreaking, but I'm not hard to please when it comes to classic American IPA's. Slightly filling, but highly drinkable at 6.20% abv. I would have it again, and I look forward to trying more from this brewery.

My first 3 Sheeps and it is decent. The beer pours a hazy copper with thin white head that is not leaving mush of a lace. The scent carries sweet malt and floral hops. The taste is good....starts balanced then finishes bitter. Since the hops are bitter its tough to make out much in the sense of flavor...maybe a citrus lean. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a decent beer....not one I would rave about....but enough to say that I am glad I tried it.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and floral flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice floral quality in the taste.

Had from a bottle in Chicago, October 13, 2013. Mainly defined by an awesome hop-forward taste that I haven’t found in many other beers. Sort of overrides the other descriptors, but the beer had a rich amber color and light hop nose - keeps the actual taste a surprise. Lovely beer that I hope to see more often in Chicago.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Pours a nice amber color that is translucent. Nice one finger head, that appears soapy and white. Holds well on the edge of the glass. Not bad looking at all.

S- Citrus fruits like grapefruit and lemon. Some spruce and juniper pine notes as well. Bitter soap and light malt round out the end. Not to aromatic, rather faint.

T- Much more going on here then the smell. Nice smooth citrus front with a bitter soap back. Lots of grapefruit and pine. Very nice. Some sweet malt and alcohol is melded in there as well. Not extremely complex but it profiles the hops very well.

M- Perfect for the style. Medium body, active carbonation, refreshing and resonates well allowing the lupin oils to reside on your taste buds for sometime after each sip.

O- Nothing out of this world, but for the style it's rather spot on. The smell is lacking a little but the mouthfeel and taste are very well done. Im glad I got to try it and if I were ever in Wisconsin and saw it on tap or at the store I'd buy some to enjoy.
