Not sure where I came aross this but stopped by for dinner while in Miami on business. Ive been to Miami so many times now and was looking for some place new...

Parking was tough - street ($) if you can find it, but I settled on a lot for $5. Neat little area, lots of restaurants around.

they actually had 13 taps...about 5 or 6 locals (cigar city amongst them) - others ive never heard of. Also had Sculpin, racer 5, DFH rotating, lagunitas..also had Bruery Rugbrod and Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break. I was there on a tuesday so FL brews were $5 - nice. The rest were very pricy. The Rugbrod was $10 for a 10oz pour. The evil twin was $13!!! seriously?!...while the bartender chugs half a pint of it in front of everyone...
Also, they had a cigar city guabana or something...it was good but the bartender said it was a sour...so I jumped. well...it wasnt. thanks. Not that I didnt enjoy it, but come on. he also said evil twin was "2 gypsy brewers"...i guess im just being pretentious now, but when you are pouring $13 biscotti break...ie lucky enough to get a keg of it - you better know who made it.

The food was amazing..I had the veg burger and it was fantastic. The chicken and waffles looked so fucking good...but being vegetarian it was off limits...oh well.

Here is where things get even more weird for me...

they have a "special bottle list" for people who "ask the correct beer-related questions". I overheard this and asked to see it, and it actually said not to show it to everyone on the top of the menu!!! The list had like 5 or 6 bottles - Cascade blueberry was one of them - for $40!! Now, I was so pissed when I heard that it was witheld from me...i was there to spend some $ and drink beer...and to think they held this "special list" until i was already 3 beers in was insane. I may have actually got the cascade..who knows. Its such a dick move to hold the special list for people they deem "beer worthy". I mean I have like 800 beer reviews at this point and over 50 place reviews...am I worthy of such a list...apparently not.

Aside from the special list/service, this place was pretty cool...not sure if I will return though. It kinda pissed me off...

Pronounced "Low-Cal." The place is small but if there's a crevice, they'll serve you. Don't be discouraged if the place appears packed: the staff is very efficient and will service you quickly. They had an small but impressive reserve list that includes many "whales" and aged beers. Their reserve list is a bit overpriced compared to regions where craft beer is more prevalent but in Miami, the prices reflect the limited availability. The food was incredible. I had fidy-fidy which is a 50% ground bacon/ground beef burger served with 50% sweet potato fries/regular fries. The meal came out promptly and was delicious. The service was also great. Matt showed me around and was very helpful. His beer knowledge is very admirable and he does an incredible job ensuring that his staff is very knowledgeable as well. Their sister restaurant is a great place as well (Kush).

Very small place... but in that cozy way (that i personally like), with limited indoor, bar, and outdoor seating options. Craft selection was pretty good (they usually carry very good YEAR-ROUND options), but not very extensive. "Food-wise", i have had lunch and dinner there a few times. I have been happy with my entree choice and other times... not so much. So all in all, their food can be VERY good or just plain mediocre (and salty). On the other-hand, their appetizers have been tasty each visit!

Best burgers in Miami and they also have amazing beer being constantly rotated on taps.

One of the first places to serve really good beer, not just craft beer, with a burger. They normally have a very nice beer on tap, and then nice beers complementing. The bottle menu is small, but the tap is always rotating with good stuff.

Big plus here, great food.

I've been her a couple of times and have enjoyed all of them. Great food and amazing beers topped off with friendly service and knowledgable staff. They have a special bottle list featuring beers not normally available elsewhere in Florida. I feel fortunate to be able to try these things and thus, don't mind what some might consider a hefty price tag for them. If that's not your thing the regular draft and bottle selections are competitively priced with any other similar establishment.I'll return whenever I'm in the grove.

Lokal is a wonderful restaurant in the Coconut Grove area of Miami that serves some of the best local beer Florida has to offer. You can find things here from Cigar City, Wynwood, and even Funky Buddha. After being advised to come here by a local friend, I made my way and was surprised to find not only a cool atmosphere and extremely friendly service, but also great food at a reasonable price. You will find things from burgers, to fish, to even gator. The cool thing is that they try to keep things as local as possible (hence the name). That's why you will find extremely local beers and food that is sourced from Florida.

If you are heavily into beer (as all of us are), ask for the list. This is basically a list that is only offered to the most knowledgable beer enthusiasts they know. You will find some great beers that you wouldn't normally find in the area, and this is a wonderful opportunity for anyone. I loke how they don't settle to cater to the masses and try to sell cheap beer. They stick to their morals of only serving the best, and this is why Lokal is my dining destination of choice.

The bartenders are great and Matt (the owner) is a great guy that will give recommendations on what you should be drinking. On top of that, they are having beer events and tap takeovers on a regular basis, so this place is something that should be checked out.

This place was recommended to me by a local BA.Stopped in for lunch with wife on a Friday afternoon around 1pm. Inside probably seats 50-75 people and they were busy. Very casual lunch crowd a mix of business types and regulars. I believe there were 16 taps and bartender was very attentive and knowledgable about the beer. Good selection of beer( 4 or 5 locals and the rest were bigger craft breweries, stone, founders, ballast). Enjoyed the Funky Buddha hop gun. Food was very good. $12 for burger and fries is average with most burger and craft places. Also had outside seating area that allowed dogs and they also have a doggie menu. Overall a good place for burgers, bar food and good beer that isn't a tourist nightmare.

Coolest restaurant in miami. They use all local ingredients and the whole place is made of recycled items. The bar is made of old cassette tapes and the tables made of wooden pallets. They have a limited tap selection, 14, but they make up for them in quality. Two things I respect about this place:
1. They take their glassware seriously, every beer went in the proper glass and that attention to detail was great.
2. They only had craft beers, no shitty stella or amstel to please the non-beer drinkers. They specialize in local beers from Florida but still manage to avoid carrying the garbage beers made in Florida. The food was excellent, key lime pie and chicken n waffles are a must. Most important thing is make sure you ask for THE LIST. They keep rare hard to get beers on there and even age them. I enjoyed a Cascade Blueberry and it was an amazing sour. It's a must stop for anybody who loves craft beer.

Side note, it seems like it's a gathering place for industry people, everyone in there either makes beer, sells beer or follows beer and David behind the bar is extremely knowledgeable
