Perhaps the highest prices on beer I have come across in NYC.

Really awesome place with lots of pickled things. Fold was amazing. Service was cordial but a little slow. We sat at a table. Would go back though.

Fun spot

Very tasty pickled options

Quality comfort food

better then decent beer options, but on the slightly expensive side

Place was packed, but the service was mostly damn good..just took a while for us to get our check...could be characterized as just being relaxed, which usually is a good thing.

well worth a visit

I really like this place. It's in my neighborhood and has the bonus of outdoor seating for the warmer months. The atmosphere and decor is comfortable and the music is not blasted so loudly that you can't hear your conversation. The food is good if your looking for hearty comfort food like burgers. As the name implies, there is a variety of pickles that complement the beer. As for the beer list, it offers an outstanding and ever changing selection of craft beers in a variety of styles.
The only thing causing me to not rate this place higher is for the particular quality of the service that I received. It's not that the waiter was rude or anything; he was a reasonably nice fellow. However, this waiter followed a trend I've noticed young waiters throughout the city in which they rush you and do not always observe proper etiquette and timing when serving and interacting with customers. Case in point, I take my beer seriously and when I look at a lengthy beer list I want to have the time and space to review it thoroughly while contemplating my selection. This waiter hands me the menu and is practically asking me within seconds what my choice will be. I hadn't even gotten a chance to read it yet! I ask him for more time. He comes back and I ask him for a taste of one beer I was considering. In the meantime, I have been waiting for my father who was late and was supposed to meet me there. He finally arrives right around the time the waiter comes back with my taste. I have barely gotten a chance to greet my father when the waiter is right away asking him what he wants from the menu before he has even gotten a chance to put on his glasses and read it. I told the waiter to give him a chance to read it first. Point is, I shouldn't have to remind him about this. We finally ended up deciding on our beers and we go on to enjoy beer and pickles. I like an attentive server, however, I do not like an over zealous server who is constantly asking "if everything is ok?" even before we have had a chance to get our first sip or bite. At some point I got slightly annoyed because my dad and I were in the middle of a more serious father and son talk when this guy interrupts us to ask if everything is ok. I feel that a waiter should be able to read social cues better than this, know when to be attentive and when to stand back. Perhaps this was just one individual waiter, and if I have a better experience with a different waiter, I will upgrade the score.

Came here for dinner on a Thursday night, peak time, with non-craft beer loving friends. The place was packed, but the wait for a table was not long.

The beer selection was very good, and I found the waitress very knowledgeable. She made great recommendations for my friends who are "winos" but know nothing about beer. Everyone was pleased with their selections.

The food was very good, especially to accompany craft beer. We did a lot of sampling and sharing dishes. The biscuits were spot on, and all of the pickles and different brined/preserved snacks were also great.

Prices were appropriate for the location and the quality of food and drink.

Been here twice and left barely able to move both times. First time I was here they somehow had HF George on tap, at 9$ a glass I still couldn't resist two. Food is southern style comfort executed well, and the pickles are all outstanding! This was officially the first time in my life I have ever taken food home with me, pricey but huge portion sizes of gut buster food. As well as having HF on draft, the selection was world class each time I've been here.

Visited on a Saturday night early (around 6:30). Staff was very friendly. Our original table was by the door, and it was a bit cold, so they volunteered to move us further in. I had the Stone Anniversary IPA. It was true to form, not too cold, and in an appropriate glass.

Started with fried pickle appetizer (5 pickles plus a mayo dipping sauce, $9; excellent), and I had the mussels in a beer broth with fries. My wife had cheesy grits and collared greens. I'd recommend all of them.

The food is a mish-mash - mainly southern/home cooking, but extremely well executed. It's either the best bar food I've had (very expensive), or good, casual UWS fare at an average price.

This was a compromise choice for me (had planned to go to Ginger Man but didn't want the train ride) - in the future, I'd put it up with the best places in Manhattan for beer and food in a casual atmosphere.

My Upper West Side friend told me to meet her at this new place called Jacob's Pickles. It's been opened for maybe about a month or so, in the stretch of Amsterdam Avenue known for frat bars and the occasional beer haven (George Keeley's).

Jacob's joint looks fancy and new inside and out. A bar area upfront with small tables crammed together in typical New York fashion, then a short flight of stairs and a dining area. Lots of exposed brick, hipster lamps and all those details you need to build a "fashionable" beer bar these days.

The food is whatever. They go for a strange mixture of Southern classics (biscuits and gravy), home cooking (mac & cheese) and of course a lot of pickles. We got the fried pickles and sure were good, and my friend's chicken caesar was alright average. Pricey at $16!! Everything here is super expensive. A couple of fried pickles for nine dollars.

But the beer selection is very good! And that's why this place is here on BA. Lagunitas Sumpin', Rasputin, Bear Pete Brown, Two Brother Cane & Ebel, Allagash Four, Nugget Nectar, Brooklyn Sorachi, Keegan Mother's Milk and more.

Unfortunately the prices are ridiculous. $8 for most beers!! But save a bit when ordering 32- or 64-oz growlers for the table ($15-$17; $29-$35).

Jacob's Pickles loves beer and deserves a chance. If they lower their prices, I would gladly stop by often with my friend.
