12oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.
A - Dark but not quite opaque. Tan head dissipates a little too quickly. No lacing.
S - Mellow roastiness. Earthy hops. Munich malt. Gives off a generous amount of aroma.
T - Smooth flavor. Mild chocolate malt. A little slanted towards hoppy from earthy flavors midway. Quick finish with little reminisce of any flavors.
M - Light to medium-light body, semi-dry, light carbonation.
O - Off kilter flavor profile for the style. Malt character underwhelms the hop flavors given. Without knowing it, I would have probably guessed this to be a munich dunkel.
Good session beer.
Recommendation - Pick up a six pack to enjoy on a warm day and throw the football around. Not really one to quaff in a snifter for too long.

Sampling right now on 1/27/14 though I had tried it a few times in the past couple of years. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a large tulip glass.
Pours a dark brown with some ruby highlights that has a 1-finger beige head that settles down to just around the edges of the glass. Some very light spotted lacing was seen but not much. The aroma is of dark roasted malts but not really strong. The taste has the roasted malt along with a touch of chocolate. A bit on the thin side for a porter unlike others I have tried. Perfect carbonation. A bit of a slight bitter finish. Overall it was OK.

A- Dark, with red showing around the edges. It looks quite similar to their Captain Bastard's Oatmeal Stout, just a little reddish when held to the light. Nice pillowy head that lasted a couple of minutes. Small amount of lacing on the glass. I was impressed with the appearance
S- Not a strong smelling beer, but notes of roast and malt are definitely present. The head is fragrant, and pleasant to take in.
T- I was extremely underwhelmed. This beer really tastes "watery" in every sense of the word. There hardly is any initial taste except for a slight roasted chocolate as the liquid passes over your tongue. It finishes slightly dry. It was a very boring, one-note experience. Tastes like somebody poured a little roast flavor into a lighter beer, or decided to mix one part stout to one part water.
M- Very thin for a porter. Disappointing. I wanted it to be creamy because of it's initial appearance.
O- Looks much better than it tastes. It's downfall is the fact that it hardly has an initial taste, and the mouthfeel is thin. This is an easy-drinker, and could be a good way to introduce people to the world of porters and stouts. I won't order one on tap again.
