Thanks to Wasatch for this one.

A: Clean and clear, vibrant copper and amber Head is fairly fizzy leaving a faint tan ring around the rim of the glass.

S: Red apple, toasted cereal, soap and honey

T: Begins fruity with moments of apple, pear and some melon. Moves to mellow toffee flavors intermingled with dry biscuits. Floral moments with clover honey and some green fruits wrap this one up. Finishes fruity and a little bit grainy. Touch of cinnamon, or perhaps nutmeg towards the end.

M: Thin, a bit hard.

D: This is a really straight forward amber. Easy drinking with no real downfalls besides being straight forward.

Clear amber colored beer with a small tan colored head.

Smells malty and sweet with a sweet caramel scent. A bit of cake batter scent and some burned sugar. No real hops detected.

Starts out woody and fairly bitter. Bit of caramel and that is about it, tastes a lot different from what it smells.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall a fairly dry 4% Utah beer.

A: Rich copper color. 1/2 finger head. Faint, wispy lacing that dissipates

S: Great aroma to this beer. Huge malt nose. Rich dark toffee with some slight oak.

T: The taste left a bit to be desired after the excellent nose it possessed. The toffee was certainly there, but it was rather simple. A tiny bit of good bitterness to finish it out.

M: For my preferences in an amber ale it was a bit over carbonated. The mouth feel was also a bit thin.

O: Certainly a decent example of the style. However, I would probably not seek it out and can find better examples in my area.

I have to admit a bias here. I had this on tap at powder mountain after a long day of learning to snowboard. I don't know how this would taste as beer number 3 at the brewery, but let me tell ya, in pitcher form, with a hot chicken wing, there is absolutely nothing better after a day on the windy slopes. pours nice caramel red with a vibrant creamy textured khaki colored head as high as the pour is aggressive. the nose is dry red malts and a gentle honey sweetness. flavor matches the nose, and is really refreshing for a darker and sweeter beer. down easy, low abv as per Utah law, and a dry finish with far less sweetness than the standard American amber. good carbonation and a creamy medium body. it washes a chicken wing down clean, infinitely sessionable. no beer I can name could have satisfied me in this way after getting beat up all over the mountain. yum!
