Funny label of a ram destroying the Us capital building and English Parliament Building. Dark brown bottle, twist top. Stamp on bottle reads: BORN: 06/08/11.

Pours very nicely with a small head which goes away quickly. Caramel in color with a light cloudiness. Smells distinctly of caramel and malt.

Tastes sweeter than other double bock's I've had but this is a good thing. The sweetness is a mellow caramel flavor which goes nicely with the very smooth mouth feel. It warms the mouth and has little carbonation which I like. Ok, the mouth-feel is awesome-- smooth, mellow, warming, not thick like a stout but thick enough to compliment the caramel flavors.
Alcohol is indiscernible.

This is a "big" beer which I think holds its own against any other in the style. I could drink this all year long, but am looking forward to a few of these in the fall. Another great point to make was that this was a relatively inexpensive beer, especially for what you get. I will definitely be buying this again. (1,005 characters)

A - Pours a rich mahogany with a quickly dissipating head, minimal whispy lacing.
S - Has a stouts sweetness in aroma, very warm with some underlying maple notes, no alcohol presence.
T - Very light hop profile, slightly chocolate, lots of sweetness here, very mild bitterness. Medium body, decent mouthfeel, easy drinking.
O - A nice step up from Shiner Bock as far as depth of flavor and complexity is concerned. A great transitional beer for those wanting to get into craft beer.
V - Bought single, not sure of 6 pack pricing. (533 characters)

From notes; best by 5/23/11, consumed 4/20/11

A - Pours amber with one finger of tan head. Head has pretty good retention.

S - Smells like bread and dried fruits, mostly raisin and plums.

T - Similar to the smell. Also getting some flavors of tea and light caramel malt. Finish has a bit of bitterness to it.

M - Medium mouthfeel, actually a bit thin. Slightly sticky but pretty clean. Finishes somewhat dry.

O - Pretty good doppelback, but doesn't really stand out. Alcohol is not apparent. Just a bit too thin. (517 characters)

12 oz bottle. Pours light ruby brown with a medium creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is toasted bready malts with a little fruit.

The flavor is sweet toasted chocolate and caramel nutty malts with some fruit and a little smokiness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice doppelbock. A bit too sweet for me. (404 characters)

12oz brown with a freshness date.

LOOK: Dark brassy amber, sufficient head

SMELL: Broth, treacle, chicory, dark bread, clean, spicy alcohol, yeast, nutty, mineral

TASTE: Creamy, full bodied, malt sweetness, cocoa powder, bread crust, herbal hop, nutty grain, grassy, clean semi-dry finish

Tasty even if it does not show off that much depth. Very clean and almost too easy to drink for an 8.0% brew. Well done. (413 characters)

Appearance: caramel brown in color, 1/3 inch head, clear, moderate carbonation

Smell: rich and deep caramel

Taste: deep caramel, brown sugar, slight chocolate

Mouthfeel: rich and heavy bodied, low carbonation, sweet

Overall:A solid doppelbock that is dangerously drinkable. This one is good and sweet but not overly complex. I will pick this up again at some point. (370 characters)

The beer pours a brown color with a large, off-white head. The aroma is very malt as is expected. I get some toffee and bread notes, as well as some vinous notes. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of toffee and a little bread, as well as some grape-like fruit notes that mix very well with the malt. The alcohol is detectable but not overwhelming. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice doppelbock. (417 characters)

Poured into pint glass with very light head and a moderate amber color. Light malt smell. Taste a bit sweet, light malt flavor. Before you know it you are ready for another drink because the taste is gone. Definitely a week doppel but very drinkable. No hint that it is an 8% so a positive there. Would chose another one to drink while out in a bar but I would not have to have another. (386 characters)

Dark brown in color with great clarity. A fingernail of khaki colored head obverse three quarters of the top. The aroma is comprised of dark malt, chocolate, and sourdough bread. The flavor is chocolate, dark malt, with a bit of a sourdough component. The mouth is moderately carbonated and smooth. (294 characters)

T: Malty, lightly sweet, dark bread crust, banana, a touch of toffee. F: Creamy smooth, medium full body and medium carbonation. O: A good, easy to drink doppelbock. (302 characters)

Pretty decent sized off white to light tan head leaves a milky decent sized lacing over a clear reddish caramel colored beer.

Slightly spiced sweet caramel malt aroma.

A light alcohol hint on a rich sweet caramel malt with a lightly toasted taste, with a slight hop backbone.

This medium bodied beer finishes with a light caramel light dry aftertaste.

A pretty decent beer, but slightly more of a caramel taste than I was hoping for. (438 characters)
