Great job with carbonation and a meringue-like head. Golden body is soothing in appearance, translucent, but hazy if you pitch the trub into the glass from the bottle bottom. Nose has plenty of yummy esters and bready notes. Hint of tropical fruit. Fruity on the palate as well with some wild flavors keeping things interesting. Bready. Clean. Finishes somewhat sweet. Alcohol masked well.

Should be a regular 12 oz release, not some special gold topped bomber.

Taster at Tap n Fill. Medium golden pour, skin of head, nice lacing. Sweet, malty aroma. Nice creamy consistency. Taste is yeast and malts, sweet. Smooth.

Honestly, for me, it’s just— eh. It wasn’t bad, wasn’t really anything special either. It’s gold and clear in the glass actually quite appeasing to the eye, but really underwhelming in the mouth. Kind of reminds me of PBR as harsh as that is. Tastes like a lager with a few spoonfuls of sugar added. This review is a bit skimpy because quite frankly, the beer was too. There just wasn’t much that stood out other than the sweetness. Agai , not bad, not good, just meh.

A good American rendition in the Duvel tradition.

But, Hell's Keep does not quite Look the part of Duvel. Squatter's rendition does have a rocky head on a crystal clear body (foam is 2/3 less dense and doesn't have really active protein, a sign of flaccid yeast.) Smells are average as the yeast does not produce an explosion of fruited malts. Tastes give me a fine malty, fruity clobber with 7.5%... for which I had no idea was coming. In addition to concealing that well, there is considerable salivation; producing a very nice accompaniment to a caprese sandwich. In the finish, a bit more hops would have been appreciated to cleanse the palate and complement the basil. OK bubbles, but more helps in the Duvel competition. Best advice: work on the yeast some more; the rest is easier.

While this my second from Utah Brewers Cooperative (first was from Wasatch, the other half), I write a brewer review as further homage to their unique and intelligent strategy of two good brewers consolidating to simplify production and distribution. Since I speculate these are the two business procedures that keep micros as micros, this Coop strikes me as smart in overcoming expansion issues that, in a state like Utah, must be even stronger. Big OA Kudos for that.

Had on tap at Pizza Rock, Las Vegas. Nice color and clarity, but the head was almost non-existent, a side effect of too low carbonation for the style. Aromas good, but lacking any real yeast character. Flavors also lacked yeast character, leaving it tasting almost pilsner-like. Overall, a decent, enjoyable beer, but disappointing as a BPA.

Poured from a can into a chalice glass

Appearance – The beer pours a perfectly clear orange amber color with a small white head of foam. The head fades rather fast time to leave a trace of wispy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is huge of a sweet candied sugar smell with a great showing of a lightly toasted malt aroma. Along with these smells comes a good showing of bubblegum and some light fruits, with apple, pear and apricot. There is a little bit of clove and nutmeg as well, and with a hint of banana and herb, the aroma is overall super inviting and delicious.

Taste – The taste begins some of the sweeter flavors that were detected in the nose. Some candied sugar as well as some peach, apricot, and apple are the base of the sweet, which is supported by a nice lightly toasted bready flavor. As the taste advances a big bubblegum and light yeasty tastes come to the tongue and are joined by some of the spice flavors of nutmeg and clove that were present in the nose. Toward the end, some light alcohol and a bit of grain and herb come to the tongue to leave one with a pleasantly warming Belgium ale taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly more crisp with a carbonation level that is normal. For the mix of alcohol, sweet, yeast, spice, and malt the feel is spot on, accentuating everything just right without letting one flavor overpower the taste profile.

Overall – This was a very tasty and enjoyable Belgium strong ale. Reminds me a bit of Delirium Tremens, but a tad bit on the sweeter side. Very tasty!!!

This has a nice sharp bite upon sip. Smooth and quite sweet, but it does dry out towards the end. Great Belgian Yeast flavors. This was pretty low on carbonation, but very flavorful though.

Enjoy by 3/14/18.

Beautiful on-point hazy Tripel appearance with a gold color, and a big lacey white head.

Big floaty peppery cloudy yeast flavors on the nose, bubble gum, banana, and ethanol. Woo-hoo!

Flavor is grainy to start, followed by equal amounts of banana and ethanol, tailing out with bubble gum and faint peppery yeast, and what seems like suggestions of faint steamed cabbage.

Feel falls flat a bit, pretty watery overall - I could have used more heat and carbonation, would have knocked it out of the park.

Overall a very tasty Belgian Tripel that if I could find it in 6 packs around here I would nab them fast.
