Had back in March '11. Served at fridge temp.
A- Hazy, burnt orange in color. off white head with great head retention.
S- Fruity hops, citrus (orange, grapfruit and some lemon zest) Hopes dont seem too strong in the smell tho and its got this "wet sponge" kinda smell that leads me to believe the bottle may be a bit dated. There are also some soft caramel notes with a hint of brown sugar.
T- Caramel malts and white sugar dominate with the hops comming in mid mouth. Cirtus hops are dominated by the alcohol in the end with lingers and is pretty unpleasant.
M- The hops are bitter, but not too bitter and and alcohol burns a bit and leaves an ethanol taste in the back of the mouth. Way too boozy for a beer thats 9%. The carbonation is a little low but its not bad. Body is think and sticky but not overwhelming.
O- This is a drinkable beer, the the alcohol really takes away from it. I could live without another but perhaps it would be better super fresh?

Not a bad beer and is palatable but not to my personal liking. It has a very thick syrupy feel in the mouth. Smell(in a can) was too sweet for me. Taste was not hoppy enough for a double ipa. And lacks bitterness which I like. I would not write it off as a bad beer but I feel it does not live up to traditional double ipa standards. I'll have to try it in a glass to see how it taste on draft.
