Pours a two finger head into a tulip glass. The head is very pillowy and frothy, not quite creamy though. Pretty much completely white, maybe a hair off white. Looks to be hanging around well, but we’ll see how that turns out. The beer looks more like a wit than it does an IPA, I know it’s a white IPA, but still. Very cloudy, basically zero visibility. Orange in color. Carbonation isn’t visible. Overall it’s a very nice looking beer, so far.

The nose is ok, nothing special though. Light coriander up front, with some light wheat in there. A small bitterness too, but not enough for an IPA, at all. Very clean smelling. Perhaps a little orange as well. The smell is pleasant, just not enough going on, and it doesn’t smell like an IPA (even considering it’s a white IPA). It’s a nice smell, but just not enough to be more than a 3.5.

On the initial taste, some low end grain comes through, not a great start. Maybe corn even? There is a light coriander from beginning to end. A hint of bitterness, but again, just not even close to enough for the style. Like in the aroma, the taste is very clean, but that borderlines bland. I’m close to giving it a 3, but it’s just a hair above, so 3.5.

The mouthfeel is very nice, with as cloudy as it is, I would expect a wheaty feel. Carbonation is low, but definitely there. While it does have a backbone to its mouthfeel, the wheat and overall chewiness is lacking a tiny bit for the style. I’m thinking 4, but I think I have to go 3.5 again.

The drinkability is very good. It’s light, and un offensive. Problem is, it’s just not that great of a beer. It’s a relatively average beer overall, so while it’s easy to drink, I’m not ecstatic about drinking it. I’ll give it a 4 for drinkability though.

The appearance turned out to be very nice, good lacing throughout the whole beer. The body, while being a little unusual, looked nice from the beginning. The head did not last the entire time, for that reason I think a 4 is fine.

Overall this was a pretty average beer, nothing special at all, but nothing offensive. There isn’t a whole lot to say honestly. Lacking in flavor and keeping to the style were the two big problems. 3.5 overall because it’s by no means a Blue Moon.

Ale brewed with coriander (hey, if I don't like it I can always dump it in my chili). Poured from a can into a Bell's tulip. I get the coriander on the nose immediately after opening the can. Not very highly carbonated, but a rough pour does produce about a finger of fluffy white head. The beer is kind of hazy and pale gold in color. On the nose I get coriander, lemon zest, sage, and a hint of pineapple.

Medium body with an earthy flavor. Not at all hop-forward and far more herbal than citrusy. I would say this drinks more like a Saison than a true American IPA. There is a firm malt presence up front, then a very strong wave of herbal flavors. Lots of coriander on the palate along with black tea and a hint of fruit. The herbs and tea intensify across the palate and linger on the finish, which is husky and mulchy.

Refreshing and unique. Doesn't really fit the style description of an American IPA. Fairly easy-drinking, but a little too herbal. I would like this beer more without so much coriander in it, or perhaps with just a bit more malty sweetness to balance it out a bit.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "enjoy by" date 1-9-15.

APPEARANCE: pours a hazy, straw color with one-finger white head, excellent retention, there is a nice white cap that remained throughout, significant lacing, medium carbonation.

SMELL: bread, coriander, lemon citrus.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet and bready then coriander and lemon citrus hops, very balanced, the 6% ABV is imperceptible.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a very good beer, it's a different hop profile than a traditional IPA, this is a milder citrus hop profile and makes a more balanced beer, this beer does not burn out your palate and I could definitely drink more than one in a sitting, I would definitely buy this again and would recommend to anyone that enjoys the style.

i've had maybe three or four white ipa's and this has gotta be the best one so far, very tasty. i'd recommend white ipa's over regular ipa's anyday, they have a better taste.

Ghostrider pours a bright straw color with a small but lacing head. There is a bitter aroma. The taste has some spices, a crisp malt backbone, and some bitter hop flavors. Good body and flavors. Overall, the larger bitterness just doesn't fit.

Nice faded yellow hazy color with a great lasting white head. Slight hop smell but you can really smell the coriander. Fruity citrus taste. Smooth and creamy. Pretty good white ups!

Looks like a white and smells a little like one, but it pretty much ends there. Sweet up front with a bitter finish along with some alcohol warmth. Bitter seems to be from hops and yeast. Not a bad brew; drinkable.

Pours a hazy, straw color. One inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong pine, strong hops, hint of spice (rosemary), alcohol, slight earthy malt, and sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hops, strong pine, sweet malt, alcohol, slight earthy malt, hint of spice, and slight citrus. Overall, great appearance, aroma, body, blend, and feel. This is a great IPA.

A : I like that they use the term "ghost" because the appearance is exactly that. It's a ghostly yellow banana color, about 80% opaque. The head is short lived but initially sticks at 2 fingers. It recedes to a creamy lid with sticky lacing on the sides of the glass.

S : It actually smells like a clean bar. I like it. It's somewhat reminiscent of a macro lager, with floral aromas and toasted barley. Pizza dough, faintly baked. Some fresh mowed grass. Faint lemon pith can also be nosed. It's bringing me back to a pizza parlor with macro lager aromas, I have to prop this one.

T : Ghostrider strikes a stellar balance of lemon and pine, sure to please both sides of the hops fan club. Under that is a bready wheat flavor, but it's taken over again by more pine and finally wrapping up with a tropical finish (pineapple rind, faint cantaloupe). The "white" doesn't stay very long, and it ends up tasting just like a creamier IPA.

F : Creamy and dense, with electric stabs of lively carbonation underneath. It ends with a sandpaper finish.

O : A fair IPA. Not really outstanding, but not terrible either. I had Deschutes' Chainbreaker the other night and that was a much better offering. I'll pass on this next time.

L: A hazy straw pour builds a clingy, rocky 3” white foam collar. S: Big grassy hop nose T: Fruity attack with a touch lemon culminates in a drying, hoppy finish. F: Medium body, medium high carbonation. O: A good, solid IPA.

Pours a nice hazy golden color, as is typical of most white IPAs I have found. Leaves a medium white head fading into medium lacing throughout. Smells floral, citrusy, and smells a little like bread. Taste: perfection. Perfect balance of hop flavor, malt, and wheat. Feels solid, somewhat robust but not overly hoppy, certainly not assaulting. Overall, this is the best white IPA I've had so far. I highly recommend it.

I am surprise by this one. Maybe the White IPA branding left me suspicious, thinking this to a be a lighter, less assertive IPA, but that is not correct. There are a vast array of hop flavors here, all working in harmonious balance with the added coriander. The lighter body makes for an eminently drinkable beer, but this does not result in any loss of flavor or complexity. This would be a perfect IPA for a hot summer day.

Pretty strong IPA that tastes like grapefruit. I'm still getting into craft beer and craft beers specifically, so I'm sure that this beer isn't nearly as potent as I'm making it sound.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy bright yellow with a medium rocky white head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet perfumey spices and fruit.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with a lot of citric fruit and spicy floral hops with decent bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Overall, a decent fruity spiced IPA.

Bright orange with an off-white head that breaks down slowly, leaving cumulus clouds of froth in its wake. Smells of malt, lemon, orange and faint, resinous hops. More citrus (coriander, orange) flows into a slightly bitter end and some grain and peel are noticed later. Lighter in body and dry and is gone before you know it.

Not that much IPA to this one, but tastes good nonetheless.

From a can:

Big head billows up in the glass, perhaps Ishould have just drank from the can. Oh well, head settles nicely, rocky and sticky to about 2 fingers.

Very light bodied. Straw color. Dare I say "ghostlike"? A bit hazy. Head is really nice now

Aroma is light on the hops, and has really not much else. Hint of esters here and there.

Very light taste. The hops are not IPA level and provide small doses of florals. Malt backbone is fragile and light. Esters in the nose do not come through in the flavor. This is a very light IPA, and I wouldn't even call it an IPA. Nice dryness on the end, but it's a rather boring beer.

12oz can, a random selection from the King Soopers across from my hotel in Denver last week.

This beer pours a cloudy, medium whitish yellow hue, with three fingers of puffy, rocky and frothy bone-white head, which leaves some stellar and consistent webbed lace around the glass as it slowly drops away. Now that is a 'white' IPA.

It smells of bitter, and slightly dank pine needles, peppy orange and white grapefruit rind, somewhat astringent yeast, crackery, doughy pale malt, and further muddled leafy and tropical fruit hop notes. The taste is gritty, grainy pale malt, orange juice pulp, leafy pine resin, sedated yeast, a bit of mixed and matched antipodean fruit, and a certain wet, almost flinty leafiness.

The carbonation is fairly laid-back, just a fizzy tic here and there, the body a decent medium weight, and well smooth, with a growing creaminess as it warms. It finishes a bit on the sweet side, the malt and inherent fruitiness of the hops starting to strangle out the bitterness from the same.

A pleasant version of the style, one which puts more effort into its looks (and succeeds wildly), than in insisting that yeast be front and center. The result is a tasty, softened sort of IPA, one I could see indulging in multiple rounds, the next time I have fresh squirrel to BBQ.

Pours hazy golden yellow color with a thick foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is very good. Citric, lemon, slightly piney aroma. Slightly, lemony, malty taste up front. Maltiness is light. Mild hoppy bitterness doesn't show up until the end. Piney, citric aftertaste. Not too bad but wouldn't ever be my first choice.

Reviewed in North End Boston over linguine. Not exactly a beer mecca so was surprised to find.
Poured from a bottle into an iced glass. Hazy, relatively dense in appearance but mouth feel is lighter than it looks. Fruity to the nose and light on palate, but a good amount of complexity to save from being insipid. Would drink again but more as an interesting accompaniment to food rather than for its own sake.

Reviewed during the last week when out of service area/Wifi in WY/UT. Full phone notes taken at the Watchman Campground, Zion National Park, UT.

A- Can poured into a chalice glass for the review. The body is very hazy and beyond pale, it seems to lack any heated grains. A head fills out to one finger with a frothy consistency and decent retention. A tiny ring leaves spotty lace.

S- Tropical fruit nectar notes emanate from the glass in a hop based aroma. A bit mild for an IPA but still nice notes of stone fruit pulp and some citrus.

T- Hops deliver notes of tangerine, mango, tropical and stone fruit nectar, citrus peel and floral hints. Not as juicy or pungent as other IPAs but still satisfies. Seems to be some spicy and bubble gum yeasty notes but the hops used meld everything together. Just a hint of malts.

MF- The body is light and only has a slight creaminess. Carbonation is on the high side and only cushioned a bit. Slight bitterness.

Hmm. There seems to be more yeast character here than most IPAs but not white as in Wit strength. Solid fruity hops are the star of the show and bring everything together. Nothing is off and it really hits the spot with strong but not palate wrecking hop flavor.

Very nicely done! Unfiltered, which leaves a good deal of the particle element which contributes nicely to any beer (in my ever unhumble opinion). Pours a light cloudy amber. Thin head. Nice, citrus aroma. One of the best hop deliveries I've seen, low on the bitter side but very present. In the world of light colored beers it is my dog's favorite, and that's quite a complement!

A--Extremely light yellow, very close in color to some lagers that I've had. In fact, I'd like to try this next to Wasatch's new Snap Down Header IPL. One finger head disappears quickly, but leaves a lot of lacing on the side of the glass.

S--Citrusy hops are the first and foremost thing on the nose. It's followed by a hint of pine and maybe just a bit of a bread type smell.

T--Very good. Again the hops are the first thing you get, and it's a great barely bitter taste. The finish is actually lighter than I expected: bright, crisp, and citrusy.

M--Very light and crisp. Great amount of carbonation to make it refreshing. Easily the most drinkable of any version of IPA that I've ever had, though admittedly it's the first white IPA I've tried. I'll be interested to compare it to others in the style.

O--Great, refreshing beer with just the right amount of hop kick. I'll definitely be buying it again.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. New Wasatch labeling features a great rendition of a ghostrider against a black background. 6% ABV. Bottle marked enjoy by 8/8/14. Recommended food pairing: "Squirrel over an open fire." I love Wasatch.
