Pours a nice hazy golden color, as is typical of most white IPAs I have found. Leaves a medium white head fading into medium lacing throughout. Smells floral, citrusy, and smells a little like bread. Taste: perfection. Perfect balance of hop flavor, malt, and wheat. Feels solid, somewhat robust but not overly hoppy, certainly not assaulting. Overall, this is the best white IPA I've had so far. I highly recommend it. (419 characters)

I am surprise by this one. Maybe the White IPA branding left me suspicious, thinking this to a be a lighter, less assertive IPA, but that is not correct. There are a vast array of hop flavors here, all working in harmonious balance with the added coriander. The lighter body makes for an eminently drinkable beer, but this does not result in any loss of flavor or complexity. This would be a perfect IPA for a hot summer day. (425 characters)

Very nicely done! Unfiltered, which leaves a good deal of the particle element which contributes nicely to any beer (in my ever unhumble opinion). Pours a light cloudy amber. Thin head. Nice, citrus aroma. One of the best hop deliveries I've seen, low on the bitter side but very present. In the world of light colored beers it is my dog's favorite, and that's quite a complement! (380 characters)

Poured into pint glass. Light golden color slightly hazy 1/8'' white head. Smells of grapefruit, hops, wheat. Very mild hops flavor fades to a grainy wheat. Refreshing. (168 characters)

Haven't tasted anything in the Wasatch lineup too special until I had this one.

One finger head initially, little lacing.

A: A nice light cloudy golden color, definately looked different.

S: Light sweet hop aroma, not very strong but definately there.

T: Almost a mix between a good Hef and an Ipa. Nice fruity hop kick with some zest of citrus and spices.

M: Medium carbonation, nice mouthfeel, you can feel the cloudiness. Definately works well with the taste.

Overall. This is definately not an awesomely hop punched brew like a typical great IPA, but it is very refreshing from the line of Ipas I've been sampling that all taste basically the same. Great sesion beer, easy drinking, but very tasty. I was surprised. (726 characters)

Good head for a bar pour. Lots of ring lace with plenty of web strands in between. The color is whitish yellow. Cloudy.

Excellent bitter and floral smell.

Refreshing drink. A bit on the thin side body wise. Above average carbonation. Starts with a pale malt base. The hop comes in slowly, subtly. Although the black pepper flavor never overwhelms, it is predominant in the swallow. The aftertaste lasts a moderately long time. (430 characters)

On-tap 7/1/13 at Battleship Brewhouse in Fall River, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a cloudy light yellow color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, citrus, wheat, light caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with a quick burst off lemony citrus sweetness that is quickly followed by some wheat and a thin malt character breadiness. Then a very strong hops bitterness comes in and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly bready.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a good beer to pound for a long time. (783 characters)

Hmmm a white IPA, sounds interesting! It pours a cloudy pale yellow color; much like a summer shandy looks in a glass only with a lot better head retention. The aroma is full of bitter hops just waiting to tickle you nose. The taste is quite citrusy with a pretty good bitter bite. It almost taste like a lemon zest beer infused with lots of hops. This is an interesting, different style of brew for sure. Something you have to try to for yourself. (448 characters)

A--Extremely light yellow, very close in color to some lagers that I've had. In fact, I'd like to try this next to Wasatch's new Snap Down Header IPL. One finger head disappears quickly, but leaves a lot of lacing on the side of the glass.

S--Citrusy hops are the first and foremost thing on the nose. It's followed by a hint of pine and maybe just a bit of a bread type smell.

T--Very good. Again the hops are the first thing you get, and it's a great barely bitter taste. The finish is actually lighter than I expected: bright, crisp, and citrusy.

M--Very light and crisp. Great amount of carbonation to make it refreshing. Easily the most drinkable of any version of IPA that I've ever had, though admittedly it's the first white IPA I've tried. I'll be interested to compare it to others in the style.

O--Great, refreshing beer with just the right amount of hop kick. I'll definitely be buying it again.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. New Wasatch labeling features a great rendition of a ghostrider against a black background. 6% ABV. Bottle marked enjoy by 8/8/14. Recommended food pairing: "Squirrel over an open fire." I love Wasatch. (1,162 characters)

Pours hazy golden yellow color with a thick foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is very good. Citric, lemon, slightly piney aroma. Slightly, lemony, malty taste up front. Maltiness is light. Mild hoppy bitterness doesn't show up until the end. Piney, citric aftertaste. Not too bad but wouldn't ever be my first choice. (336 characters)

Reviewed during the last week when out of service area/Wifi in WY/UT. Full phone notes taken at the Watchman Campground, Zion National Park, UT.

A- Can poured into a chalice glass for the review. The body is very hazy and beyond pale, it seems to lack any heated grains. A head fills out to one finger with a frothy consistency and decent retention. A tiny ring leaves spotty lace.

S- Tropical fruit nectar notes emanate from the glass in a hop based aroma. A bit mild for an IPA but still nice notes of stone fruit pulp and some citrus.

T- Hops deliver notes of tangerine, mango, tropical and stone fruit nectar, citrus peel and floral hints. Not as juicy or pungent as other IPAs but still satisfies. Seems to be some spicy and bubble gum yeasty notes but the hops used meld everything together. Just a hint of malts.

MF- The body is light and only has a slight creaminess. Carbonation is on the high side and only cushioned a bit. Slight bitterness.

Hmm. There seems to be more yeast character here than most IPAs but not white as in Wit strength. Solid fruity hops are the star of the show and bring everything together. Nothing is off and it really hits the spot with strong but not palate wrecking hop flavor. (1,220 characters)

On tap for pint night in matching glass

A- Cloudy yellow with a small white head that doesnt stick. Looks very light.

S- Sweet smell with flowers and peppers. Not a strong hop smell.

T- Nice wit taste upfront with a sweet peppery hop taste after. Finishes with a nice ipa hop taste on the toungue.

M- Lightly carbonated very smooth and easy drinking

Overall very nice beer, not truely an IPA but very good. Excuse the typing on my iphone. (446 characters)

Bright white head on a hazy light golden brew in the tall glass. Very nice aroma of flowery hops and pineapple. Nice carbonation that lasts all the way down the glassful.

I'd have to call this a hopped-up Witbier, which is maybe the right category. Brewer says it's dry hopped (45 IBUs) with a touch of coriander. Light bodied, pale malt flavor, and a spicy flavor. A very nice mouthful of hops but only a moderate bitterness. You certainly wouldn't mistake this for the usual hop-crazed IPA. A little funky graininess, almost a hint of plastic, along with the spice. But it's actually quite quaffable and would be worth seeking out on a Utah beer expedition.

12 oz bottle from the UBC beer store poured into my perfect pint after about 15 minutes out of the fridge.

Appearance: I was sure to swirl up most of the yeast on the bottom of the bottle. It poured with a massive white head that stuck around for a while. The beer was a cloudy straw yellow white sort of color. Would be fun to try to float a stout on top of this. Has got to be a good portion of wheat in this because the head retention and lacing are awesome.

Smell: Citrus, both from the hops and I suspect from the yeast. Not much, if any, malt smell present.

Taste: Light cracker type malts (and wheat) to go along with citrus aroma and flavors. Lemon and a bit of maybe clementine. A slight bitter bite on the end.

Mouthfeel: With the yeast and wheat, this one is a medium bodied beer. Nice crisp dry finish.

Overall: An pretty interesting style. Not sure why they introduced this during the winter, I would much prefer this to be a summer seasonal. Tastes like a hopped up witbier. (993 characters)

Citrus is the best way to describe this beer. Drank this one from the bottle and upon opening the first thing you smell is citrus trailed by a hint of hops. The beer tastes just as it smells...citusy. The taste over all was pleasant and i enjoyed it. The mouth feel of this beer was very very carbonated. Over all I really liked this beer and believe it to be a great example of a white IPA. (391 characters)

12oz can, a random selection from the King Soopers across from my hotel in Denver last week.

This beer pours a cloudy, medium whitish yellow hue, with three fingers of puffy, rocky and frothy bone-white head, which leaves some stellar and consistent webbed lace around the glass as it slowly drops away. Now that is a 'white' IPA.

It smells of bitter, and slightly dank pine needles, peppy orange and white grapefruit rind, somewhat astringent yeast, crackery, doughy pale malt, and further muddled leafy and tropical fruit hop notes. The taste is gritty, grainy pale malt, orange juice pulp, leafy pine resin, sedated yeast, a bit of mixed and matched antipodean fruit, and a certain wet, almost flinty leafiness.

The carbonation is fairly laid-back, just a fizzy tic here and there, the body a decent medium weight, and well smooth, with a growing creaminess as it warms. It finishes a bit on the sweet side, the malt and inherent fruitiness of the hops starting to strangle out the bitterness from the same.

A pleasant version of the style, one which puts more effort into its looks (and succeeds wildly), than in insisting that yeast be front and center. The result is a tasty, softened sort of IPA, one I could see indulging in multiple rounds, the next time I have fresh squirrel to BBQ. (1,301 characters)

S - Wonderful. Citrus. Mild hops. Fresh and clean.

T - Similar to smell. Citrus. Light and clean taste. Very nice for the style.

M - Lots of carbonation. Almost bubbly.

O - A very nice take on a white IPA. Very drinkable. Great session brew for tailgating. Nice beer to introduce newbies into craft beer. Well done Johnny Utah! (368 characters)

Pours a truly ridiculous, frothy white head of large-ish sized bubbles that fizzes loudly and collapses into an open celled froth sticky with resin, clinging to the sides of the glass. A bright citrus hop aroma with a touch of a soapy back to it (maybe the spices?). Hazy, yellow-straw color is reminiscent of a Wit. Starts piney with notes of grapefruit and citrus rind, builds to a medium bitterness, and then a SMOOTH, RICH malt back flies out of nowhere. The finish is a lingering bitterness on top of that smooth malt. As it sits on the palate, and the hop bitterness recedes, a nice coriander flavor starts to creep out from the malt.

Overall, this is my first White IPA. I was hesitant about the style, but it's similar to a Belgo-IPA (just more malt-centric, so it's pretty awesome. I LOVE Hoppy Wheats, so this is a great style for me. The Wit aspect maybe makes for a bit of an odd-ball in terms of clashing profiles/flavors, but it works well enough in the sense of coriander and citrus hops. (1,004 characters)

A-Cloudy yellow. Decent head. Body glows lightly.

S-Interesting. A bit musty. Light, crackery malt. Fruity yeast. Lighter hops bring some tropical fruitiness.

T-Quite similar to the nose. Fruity yeast and some pale maltiness. Subtle hoppiness which brings soft citrus and a hint of grass.

M-Light, crisp and it drinks easy.

O/D-A neat brew. Would like to see some more muscle here in the flavor but I enjoyed my sample. (423 characters)

12 oz bottle
A: Poured into a pint sized beer mug. Very little head. A very light amber color with lots of particulate in it since it is unfiltered.

S: A nice smell. Bready, citrusy. Malt as the background.

T: Very light for a unfiltered craft brew. Same notes in the taste as the smell. No hint of alcohol. Well balanced.

M: Once again very smooth and light. No giant note sticks out. Quite a bit of carbonation. Well balanced. Nice clean finish.

A nice, well balanced, light tasting brew. I would say this beer is an excellent beer to use to introduce adjunct lager drinker into the realm of craft brewing. Also a great session beer for craftys. (653 characters)

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: murky light-yellow hue with a strong effervescence and three-plus fingers of frothy white foam. The head seems to have quite a lot of tenacity; I like it.

Smell: sweet malt with a lightly fruity, lightly floral hop aroma. Whimsical, yet alluring.

Taste: lightly sweet malt with some fruity character up front. This develops into a more floral flavor, although the hop bitterness is harsher than I would expect based on the rest of this beer's character. It is decent, but it doesn't entice me as much as the aroma.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of well-integrated carbonation. Quite creamy and satisfying.

Overall: this is a decent and drinkable white IPA. I think the flavor could be smoothed out a bit, but it's still a good-drinkin' beer. (812 characters)

Pours out a hazy gold with a rocky head. Smells like a slightly hoppy wit: crackery grains and citrus. This really is a tasty witbier, but I'm not getting much IPA. Tastefully done in regards to spicing. Nice crisp, dry malt body. Hops are not in the forefront. Quite a bit of fruity esters. Mouthfeel is light and lively. Solid witbier, but lacking as a white IPA. (365 characters)

Bright orange with an off-white head that breaks down slowly, leaving cumulus clouds of froth in its wake. Smells of malt, lemon, orange and faint, resinous hops. More citrus (coriander, orange) flows into a slightly bitter end and some grain and peel are noticed later. Lighter in body and dry and is gone before you know it.

Not that much IPA to this one, but tastes good nonetheless. (391 characters)

Appearance: Poured a cloudy, dull yellow with an airy, tall head which dissipated rather quickly.

Smell: Citrus hops along with a very sweet, fruity aroma - peach, apricot, ect.

Taste: The beginning rises into the citrus hops; the middle carries the most of the bitterness from the hops, but there wasn't enough of this; the end finished with the peachy sweet flavoring.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation was strong upfront, but carried through well; smooth enough.

Overall: This one was decent, I was expecting a slight bit more bitterness versus fruitiness. (554 characters)
