Poured a light straw hue with a two finger white super foamy head. There was decent retention and good lacing.

The smell was very light with a good balanced aroma. Some hop resin and definitely a strong graininess.

The taste very much mirrored the smell. Light, yet with a definite presence.

The mouthfeel was light and crisp. Good carbonation.

Overall not a bad German lager. When you consider it is a low carb beer, the flavor and aroma are quite impressive.

Appearance: Pours a clean, simple yellow-hued body with a very small, very thin, white head.

Smell: A little sweetish sniff of cereal-scented malts with a flimsy hint of grains.

Taste: Sweet cereal maltiness, near nil hop flavor and imparted bitterness. A lick of grains. Finishes a bit sweet and lacking crispness.

Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: The 'Extra' in Rhinebecker Extra doesn't stand for flavor or enjoyment.

I'll have to echo what others have said, and offer this as my top "low-carb" beer. According to realbeer.com, it weighs in at 2.5 carbs/106 calories per 12 oz.

Rhinebecker isn't much to look at, but it is refreshing to drink. Smell is also fairly absent, but the taste is of standard pilsner with Saaz hops. Very crisp and clean mouthfeel. Not a bad option if you are on a budget...

When this is on $2 special at Delilah's, everyone drinks the hell out of it.

Pours a medium gold-straw color with a very small head that fizzes out very quickly. Very clean, slightly malty smell. Taste is, um, not a whole lot. A bit of sweet malt and a bit of herbal hops, but not much of either. Pretty much an extremely light tasting version of a standard German pils. Oddball flat, watery mouthfeel. Very clean and super easy to drink, but not actually good or anything. Lightyears ahead of most other low-carb beers, at any rate. Also extremely low in carbs at a mere 2.5 according to the bottle.

Pale golden color and weak white head. Aroma is noble hops and sweet malt--typical pils. Flavor is that of a very dry, hoppy german pils. Prominent Saaz hop flavor. Finishes clean with an unbelievable malt sweetness. I would not have thought this was a low-carb beer. In a class by itself.

As far as "low carb" beers go, this one blows the competition away! It's got a distinctly grainy character to it even though the malt is quite light; and it's loaded with grassy, herbal and floral hop flavors (again, considering that it is basically a "light" beer, it's loaded!). It's crystal-clear, pale straw body is quite attractive and it's bright white head holds fairly well given the style; and the nose delivers a welcoming combination of herbal hops and grainy malt. It's well-balanced with a solid bitterness; and easy to drink. Unfortunately, there's just not enough overall character to maintain interest beyond a glass. As a summer refresher though, it's certainly a winner.

Lets start by acknowledging this for what it is: a low carb beer. So this review compares it to Aspen Edge, accel, Mich Ultra. Given this comparison, this is a drinkable beer. I would drink this again, and complain less than if it were coors light. There is some flavor, and it really tries to be a german beer. Less bitter than a Heini or amstel (I know, not german), there is taste, and it isn't bad.

Look, if you are reading this, you would rather have an Anchor Steam. But for the type, not too bad.

Pours with a two-fingered chunky white head that fades quickly and leaves lumps of lace. Medium-high carbonation. Very light yellow and crystal clear color. Nose is hoppy/skunky. Starts with a mix of malts and hops finishes hoppy and leaves a bitter aftertaste. Very light bodied. There is no joy in this low-carb. $1.59 for a 330ml bottle.

Pale...very pale in color, very little head. A sour, almost stale grain-like aroma is followed by faint flavors of a malted based product. However, most taste has been eliminated in favor of creating another trendy"low Carb" product. I would choose a sparkling water before this and enjoy a really low carb product that does not offend the taste buds. Not recomended for any one seeking flavor.

The beer pours a very pale gold color with a frothy white head. The aroma is decent. It has a pure lager smell; fruity esters, and pale malts. The taste is awful. This beer is watery and tasteless. It has a bold bitterness to it and is a hard swallow. The mouthfeel is not that great. This is a super light bodied beer, but it goes down slow. It is a poor drinking beer. As far as these new low carb beers go, this one scrapes the bottom of the barrel. I hate to say it, but Michelob Ultra is a step up from this skanky garbage.
