On tap at Toronado in San Diego. Hazy golden in the pint shaker with a low and short-lived foam. Tangy carbonation in the mouth. Warm malty taste with that sharp note makes this incredibly drinkable.
I wouldn't call this a traditional Kölsch, but it has a spicy, malty pleasure of its own. This even improves as it warms. Hops are faint, but it has just a suggestion of the Kölsch perfumey taste. I hope they will work on the carbonation and get that right, but it's a very likable brew. "More please!"

Served on-draught at Haven into a 4.5oz sampler glass as part of a 4-sampler flight. Expectations are average. Cost was $2.00 USD. Reviewed from notes. Identified as a Kolsch on Haven’s beer screen/faux blackboard. 4.99% ABV.
A: Pours a half finer head of white colour. Thin. Bad (~1 minute) retention.
No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.
Body colour is a clear pale yellow. Spot-on for the style. Above average vibrance.
Looking good so far, but not unique or special.
Sm: Clean. Pale malts. Minimal floral hop presence; this is to style. Subtle lemon zest. A hint of soap. Clean barley. Simple and appealing. No yeast character or alcohol is detectable. An aroma of mild strength.
T: The lemon zest is subtle. Clean barley, pale malts, and pilsner malts fill out the body nicely. Floral hop presence is minimal. Not a lot of complexity, but great balance. Damned refreshing, to boot. It could certainly use more subtlety.
Mf: Smooth. Wet. Clean. Light body. Thickness is toned down, aiding the refreshing feel. It’s not overbearing or heavy on the palate. Suits the flavor profile well and facilitates delivery of the flavours nicely. Great light presence. Should be more crisp to really hit the style correctly.
Dr: Obscenely drinkable; I could easily down this by the stange. A solid if simple Kolsch style beer from Haven. Hides its ABV well. I wouldn’t recommend it to friends, but I’d get it again. Tasty stuff.
