A strong taste is provided by chocolaty and roasted malts, which are combined with soft smoothness from the oats. Add up a little bitterness from Columbus hops and you’ll get a dangerously drinkable Double Oatmeal Stout!

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark brown approaching jet black in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and faint very dark cola brown + garnet red highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy tan head that quickly reduces to a large patch of mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark roasted malts and dark chocolate with moderate aromas of cacoa nibs and light aromas of earthy + herbal hops.

T: Upfront there is a strong flavor of dark roasted malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of dark chocolate and roasted cacao nibs. Light flavors of earthy + herbal hops which fades pretty quickly. Moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with light to moderate amounts of alcohol warming.

O: Very easy to drink considering the strength of this beer - the only hints of alcohol are a slight warming in the mouthfeel which is otherwise very smooth. Very enjoyable with nice roasty and chocalaty flavors + aromas. Definitely a slow sipper but this one could easily sneak up on you. Glad I got the chance to grab one of these.

Pours a deep cola color with an almost non existent deep beige head atop.Aromas of charred dark fruit and mocha coffee.A complex palate with the charred dark fruit mixed with deep roasted mocha flavors, the alcohol comes in the finish but never gets to be to big.A nice mix of roast/char and sweetness going on,a nice night cap.

A - Deep brown pour. Black in the glass. Nice thick medium brown head. Good finger of retention and no lace left.

S - Really nice. Chocolate, vanilla, spirits, some hop. Licorice, leather, molasses.

T - Bitter chocolate, sweet, honey, roasted grain/burnt toast finish.

M - Good carbonation, frothy body that comes in medium to full. Sweet and roasty finish with a good bitterness.

O/D - Quite a lovely stout. Rich, drinkable, complex. Sweetness was great too. Good stuff.

Great oatmeal Stout, thick and sweet.

However, not enough carbonation for me. Otherwise, just what you'd expect, with a round, strong beer, with oat sweetness almost like condensed milk. Some bitterness (from the malt?) giving an impression of coffee.

Good oatmeal Stout, but I like Anderson valley better (personal opinion)

Bottle: 11.2 fluid ounce, dated 04/07/14
Consumed: 08/21/15, Northern California

Appearance: Dark brown, almost black. Thick pour. No head whatsoever (in spite of a high pour at end). No lacing. This may be particular to this bottle since others have reported two fingered heads and some lacing. This negatively impacted my review.

Smell: Cocoa, coffee, fruit elements

Taste: Dry chocolate initial with nice bitter finish. Silky texture.

Overall: It may have the potential to be a high scoring stout, but I think my bottle may have suffered from aging or some inconsistency in the brewing process that was particular to this batch. Will try again and possibly revise. Almost complete lack of carbonation reduced scores for Look, Taste, Feel, and Overall.

Dark brown, near black body with a thin beige collar. Aromas of roast, char, chocolate, molasses. Rich and dark. Chocolate and leather, with ample dark roast character. Sweet, dark fruits soaked in booze. Not getting the oatmeal character here. Medium thick body with low carbonation. Pretty good.
