Served on-tap in a nonic pint glass at the Iron Frog in Simsbury, Conn.
A: Poured a bright, cloudy, golden yellow color with a tinge of orange beneath a frothy, two-finger head of white foam that left some decent lacing in its wake.
S: Citrusy and floral with flecks of spicy, orange-rind infused yeast aromas and soapy, fruity esters that waft around a somewhat toasted-bready scent.
T: Mellow, juicy malt flavor up front brings citrus and herbal flavors to the foreground. Slight biscuit taste melds with lemongrass, orange peel and watery tropical fruits. A slightly skunky yeast flavor creeps onto the palate, throwing some coppery acidity into the mix before washing back with a bitter, herbal resin.
M: Medium-full bodied IPA with lots of juicy malts, some yeasty bits and a clingy hop resin to keep the palate busy while still maintaining and even-bodied drinkability.
O: Not a bad American IPA and a nice little boost there at 6% ABV which goes relatively undetected. It was good for a couple, but the palate could get burned out on its mediocrity or yeasty, oxidized off-flavors before too long. I'd get again, but would eagerly accept a more intriguing tap offering.
