Style | ABV
English India Pale Ale (IPA) |  6.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Named after one of the famous ’front four’ trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly known as "National IPA" at The Shed Restaurant & Brewery.

Cloudy, golden yellow color. Decent start to the head, good lasting time. Leaves some spotty/ring lace.

Plenty of floral hop and alcohol warmth to the nose. Decent malt presence.

There's an apricot like element to the flavor. The hop is like black pepper on the tongue and is strongest in the swallow. Good body with an elevated carbonation. For the style, short aftertaste.

Thick beige cap, really sticky and thick with great head retention. The beer was mostly clear, orange in colour. Aromas of oranges and grapefruits, mild malt and sweetness, a bit of sharp citrus rind. Hoppy backbone with mild malt sweetness, solid bitterness, citrus (grapefruit and orange again). Grassy/spicy character with lingering bitterness. Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation, faint warmth, drying on the palate. A straight ahead and nicely balanced IPA.
