Pours a deep amber with big red hues. Head is about one finger off white and retains nicely.

Smell is great. Very crisp fruity aroma is forward that turns to a more herbal earthy hop aroma. Very nicely blended and works surprisingly well. Malt comes near the end and there is lots of nice grainy slightly roasted specialty malt.

Taste is great and follows the aroma. More earthy herbal hop flavors are forward in the taste but there is a mild hint of fruitiness. There is a also some slight piney resin and bitterness. Malt is good, slightly toasted malt gives it a nice grainy flavor near the end.

Mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied. Lots of hop oil resin and bitterness help balance the body and gives it a super sticky finish.

Big red cherry cider with ample inch and a half inch head with great spread on the sides.

Extremely mild aroma of caramel malt, hop cone and toasty grain.

Taste begins with biscuity malt carrying an earthy hop leaf bitterness. Not so sweet and finishes with a tincture of minerals.

Medium body that is creamy.

Not able to cuuursh this. Nothing offensive but I'm left craving for something more-yea I'm a spoiled brat. It's ok.

The Axe Scar Pig is a good Amber ale. The beer poured a clear rich amber with thin white head that did not lace. The scent was typical of most amber ales...slightly malty with caramel undertone. The taste was sweet malt base with enough bittering hops to make it interesting...there is also a touch of spice. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall the beer is solid and a good offering from Solemn Oath.

The Axe Scar Pig was the March beer of the Month at Pints in Elmhurst, IL. They often feature a local brewery, which I like to see.

Served in a 10 oz or so Pilsner glass, the beer is a rusty, dark amber with a sticky beige head.

The nose is of caramel malts, a bit of hops and something solvent like.

The beer is surprisingly hot for being under 6%. The alcohol overrides the citrus from the hops and the slightly sweet and nutty malts. I can't help thinking this one needs a few more weeks to settle down and mature.

The mouth has a nice bit of heft, but this was a one and done for me.

From their site:

"Ruby-colored American red ale with earthy, herbal hop aroma and caramelized, toasty malt flavor. Medium-bodied and generously drinkable."

Great red ale, might even prefer it to Man Vs. Internet. Super drinkable like they mention in the description.

L - red-brown color with a creamy beige head that holds good retention
S - not a bold nose, but some caramel, burnt caramel, and citric hops come through; a little fruity as it warms
T - burnt caramel, toasty grain, grapefruit, pine, faintly fruity
F - thinner body, moderate carbonation, finishes semi-dry
O - this is usually a style I love, but this was just ok to me. Seems to be lacking something and its body is too thin.
