A: Hazy, rusty orange in color. Forms a moderate sized white head that falls to an extra thick ring around the corner and a patchy surface coating. Very little lacing.
S: Well, this isn't starting off so great. Orange, orange rind, caramel malt, balsa wood, earth, orange blossom, dirt with a touch of alcoholic spice on the back end. Yeah, it smells like a bag of dirty oranges.
T: Okay, the taste isn't much better. Starts off with a moderate sweetness. A blend of caramel malt and orange. Then a little grapefruit, before turing earthy and mildly skunky. Finish is yeasty esters, which are out of place for the style. However, the most interesting (and not interesting in a good way) thing is about a minute after you swallow there is this sticky blend of orange juice and bitterness in the mouth.
M: Medium bodied. Sticky. Appreciable bitterness. Leaves an unpleasant coating in the mouth. This beer resides at the exact opposite side of the spectrum from "clean."
O: From my experience, Solemn Oath likes to brew their beers "outside of the box" when it comes to styles. And this beer is no different resulting in a DIPA that is reminiscent of a DIPA, but not really. A DIPA that focuses on hoppy bitterness while forsaking hop flavor. Unfortunately, like many of SO's beers, this one is also fairly average.

Opaquely hazed dull orange body. Billowing and fluffy white head.
The aroma is grapefruit rind, a light floral lilac, and a strong grainy malt presence.
The hops almost end with the aromatics. It's really grainy and the hop
presence is mildly bitter but the grapefruit and floral notes I picked up in the nose struggled to pop.
Mouthfeel is meditate-light and a pinch slick.
Just ok to me. It started out strong but fell off quickly. I will say it drank much lighter than 8%, that's a plus. I found combat marshmallow, the stout that was bottled about the same time, to be way hoppier.

Appearance is bright and inviting.
Smells of citrus fruits, hops, and bubblegum.
Taste is very citrusy and light for an 8% beer. Hop flavor a bit dull.
Mouthfeel is a mouthful of tropical fruit.
Overall this beer is a very good balance of fruit and hops to make this beer worth purchasing again.

22 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass
A - really nice opaque hazy orange with 2 fingers of head that left a nice lacing on the glass after settling. Very inviting. It just looks like a citrus bomb.
S - its got a nice nose. Citrus up front. Mostly orange and grapefruit. A little pit of pine as well. No caramel or savory malt notes.
T - taste is consistent with the nose. Citrus. Orange and grapefruit. A very nice level of bitterness. It stays on the palate for a while. The hop bitterness continues through the whole experience. Very little malt even though the label boasts sweet caramel malts. You can taste the heat even though the abv is not that big. I'm guessing IBU is 90-100.
M - decent mouth feel. nice carbonation. feels light bodied. a little bit of stickiness fell as well, which I like.
O - overall this is good beer. I would buy it again. It didn't blow me away, but its a nice drinkable IIPA that you can pair with some BBQ and be happy. I personally prefer something even bigger when I'm buying an IIPA in terms of bitterness and abv.
