Black body with a tall tan head. I had to slow the pour to avoid it gushing over the glass. Not what I was expecting from a stout.

Smells really hoppy. Mostly pine and citrus with some charred malts.

It tastes just as much like a black ipa than it does a stout. Tons of pine with some earthy undertones. Citrus. Coffee and dark roasted malt.

Mouthfeel is rather thin for a stout and high carbonation.

Much like another stout I've had from them, it's more like a black ipa. I really like a lot of what S.O has to offer but wish they'd put nice, thick, creamy stout in their lineup. (596 characters)

I tried this tasty delight at Nevins Brew Pub in Plainfield, IL. It poured an opaque dark with rich tan head that did not lace. The scent carried roast and espresso. The taste was a nice combination of dark chocolate, espresso and roast. The mouthfeel was full bodied with subtle carbonation. Overall, this is a great stout and would drink it again if found. (358 characters)

Served in a chalice at SmallBar - Division.

Bachelor Party-Palooza 2013 motors on to its second destination, SmallBar. Why not try a local-ish stout? This stuff pours a straight onyx topped by a finger of golden tan foam. The nose comprises chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee, pine resin, and a kiss of grapefruit peel. The taste brings in more of the same, with the strong pine balanced by the heavy roast and chocolate notes. As my buddy put it, things taste like hoppy chocolate pancakes. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a nearly chewy feel. Overall, a very nice hoppy stout, the perfect follow-up to the mostly hop-forward Haymarket offerings earlier. Good times. (707 characters)

"Our American stout is brewed with copious amounts of roasted barley and American hops for a massive roasted coffee, citrus nose with hints of pine. Full bodied, rich dark chocolate and roasted malts flavors match the big citrus hop character" as states on the beer menu .

A - dark and cola like, soft filthy looking head with good retention
S - smells like described actually... Nice blend of coffee and citrus notes
T - roasted coffee with chocolate presence... Hint of citrus running amiss
M - soft... Somewhat lighter than I expected but still fairly solid

A solid offering.. Had it been cooler I would have snagged a growler of into stead of their IPA... (672 characters)
