Saw this in a local grocery and decided to give it a try despite the $7.99 price tag (not to mention the green glass). Besides, I had a couple of Heinekens in the fridge, so an A-to-B test was too tempting to pass up.
The initial pour was in ABs favor: an equal head, a somewhat darker body, similar carbonation, and a less-skunky smell (the AB was likely fresher, with a born on date of 28 Jan 04).
AB actually has some hops in this one, which is WAY above the standard Mich/Bud fare.
Mouthfeel was also decent for the style and I found it quite drinkable: three or four of these could go down very quickly.
If AB is indeed aiming at Heineken (the bottle shape is similar, in a near-exact shade of green glass, but standing ¾ taller), this beer is a pretty decent imitation. It even has a few advantages.
That said, this isnt my favorite style of beer and the price is a bit steep for the product involved.
Now, if only AB would try to match (or beat) Heineken DARK

A little bit more malts and hops than their regular offerrings; otherwise it was still a fairly generic pale lager at inflated prices. Drinkable but the price is telling why its no longer made.

Review dated 12/19/2008 from 12oz bottle.
Looks like Bud - pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Mild hops and malt on the aroma with adjunk. This is the best their top brewmasters could come up with? It is BARELY better than Budweiser. Watery and ricey. Faint grassy hops. Carbonated yet weak mouthfeel. Wow, A-B is bad. I am really happy they are Belgium's problem now.

Pours a clear golden with a thin white head and little lacing. Nose brings forth some grain and a bit of some Czech/German hops. Taste is about the same, with a bit of grain but mostly just faint hops and some carbonation. Light feel with a good amount of carbonation to carry what little flavor there is. Drinks okay, but probably has a bit too much carbonation and not much real flavor.
