This has to be one of the darkest colored beers that AB has ever produced it's a Chocolate Wheat aged on cocoa and vanilla beans with spices. Large tan head fine bubbles fades slowly, pretty impressive look to it. Aroma has subtle cocoa creamy vanilla notes nothing in the way of noticeable spice additions on the nose. Flavor has a milk chocolate creamy character hints of dark roasts bring a bit of balance, the vanilla seems to be there throughout each sip and doesn't really fade away. Super sweet for me a bit more dark roasts might round it out, it feels like a hybrid wheat/milk stout with all of the lactose induced sweetness. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth textured medium bodied ample even carbonation, overall I can't really complain and I haven't attempted mixing this with the standard Shock Top as the label of the six pack holder depicts making black and tans with the two.

12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours clear but very dark brown, with a beige head that a bit fizzy, leaves little lacing and has modest retention.

Has a surprisingly strong aroma, with dark roasted grains, chocolate syrup, toffee and vanilla plus a hint of butterscotch. More intersting than appealing.

The taste is medium strong, with a bit too much chocolate and vanilla and virtually no sign of the "Belgian style" promised. Mildly sweet yet still seems too sweet.

Feel: near medium body; medium-light carbonation.

O: more intense than expected from AnBev but has issues of balance.

This beer has about the look I expected, though the series tends to be a step up from some BMC offerings and a decent gateway to good beer. It's dark brown, a little light easing into the body. The thinnish, spritzy-seeming tan head is reasonably sized though a bit loosely constructed. Lacing is exclusively spotting somewhere in the range between minimal and little.
There's actually a bit of strength and substance to this beer. Chocolate syrup is strong in the nose with a not-too-grainy wheat backbone, a roasted barley note, and something like vanilla.
In the flavor, there's some tanginess that accompanies the cocoa, more a mix of syrup and powder, with a little less of the vanilla note found in the aroma. Wheat still makes a decently firm backbone.
The body can't quite seem to define itself. It feels a little thin with a definite spritz to it that isn't quite crispness. It feels clean, though, and overall it's neither good nor bad.
