From the 125 fl. oz. can marked 14296-BJ87. Sampled on May 12, 2015.

Cranberry red pour.

Cranberry red aroma.

Light mouthfeel.

Cranberry juice taste.

That about covers it. Limited Winter edition and I am drinking it in Spring. But this fruity beer works the same on any day of the year. (297 characters)

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Finally found a can of this, having missed the first go around last year. My collection is complete now. This stuff pours a clear fuchsia topped by a short-lived veneer of tinted bubbles. The nose is eerily reminiscent of cran-grape juice, though the grapes err on the side of white rather than concord. The taste generally brings more of the same, but now the grapes have morphed into that distinctive lime twinge that this line has become infamous for in my eyes. Now, I'm no fan of the flavor of cranberries anyway, but this is an overly sweet version that just makes matters worse. The body is a straight medium, with a moderate carbonation and a sticky, syrupy feel. Overall, this is the worst of the series thus far, too sweet for its own good and just not all that appealing as a drink. (847 characters)

Pours without any head or lacing at all and looks pretty much like cranberry juice which is at least partially true to its name. Aroma is just light cranberry and the taste is just a fizzy cranberry this seems much more like a wine cooler then a beer. (251 characters)

Oddly of the 5 people who tried it we all had the same opinion it gives you instant heart burn. It is very hard to finish even one because its extreme sweetness. We tried to chase it and mix it but we found the only thing it tastes good with is orange juice. I gave it away to a neighbor who loves those rita's and she said it was bad I would never buy it again nor try the other flavors because of how bad it was (413 characters)

25 FL. OZ. can
Served in a goblet (it's the closest I have to a margarita glass)

L - It looks like cranberry juice after the bubbles quickly subside. Same color and everything. I see no carbonation bubbles.

S - It smells like cranberry pop if there is such a thing. Sweet and fruity.

T - The taste has some lime in it to go with the cranberry. It tastes like pop. Syrupy sweet with some carbonation.

M - Thin and soda like

O - I am making Mexican dishes and thought what the hell. It's okay for what it is. It is awfully sweet though. (540 characters)

Can: sample from the grocery store. Poured a fizzy bright red color beer with light disappearing head. Aroma of sweet cranberry syrup smells nothing like beer. Taste is also dominated by sweet cranberry notes with have more in similar with syrup than actual cranberry. Body is light with spritzy carbonation. Not sure how much beer is really used in this drinks? (362 characters)

A: Pours a crystal clear reddish purple in color (pretty similar to Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail) with a light to moderate amount of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and hints of ruby red highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy pinkish white head that quickly reduces to a couple of very small patches of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of extra sweet cranberry juice cocktail mixed with artificial flavored fruit punch.

T: There is a moderate to strong flavor of sweet artificial flavored fruit punch with a light to moderate flavor of cranberry juice cocktail.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Pretty easy to drink because it is not quite a sweet as the other Rita products and the alcohol is very well hidden - not sure that I would want to have more than one of these in a session but it is not offensive. (970 characters)

A: The beer is crystal clear light reddish purple in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short pink head consisting of large bubbles that quickly died down, leaving only a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of fruit punch are present in the nose—if I was blindfolded I would have guessed that I was smelling some Hi-C.
T: Just like the smell, the taste has sweet flavors of sweet punch. No traces of alcohol or cranberries are perceptible.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Unlike some of the other beers in the "rita" line, this one actually remains drinkable as it warms up and doesn't become overly sugary or sweet. It is very drinkable because it hides its alcohol very well. Apart from the taste not being that interesting, my only criticism is that it didn't taste anything like cranberries and might have been better labeled as "PUNCH-A-RITA".

Appearance: Deep, authentic cranberry juice color, fairly clear, with a bit of haze. Sparse, fine lacing adorns the glass walls, and a dusting of foam adorns the surface. The carbonation is rather faint.

Aroma: The aroma is exactly like cranberry punch with white rum, there are no notable beer characteristics. The aroma does seem quite natural, however.

Taste: Opens with a surge of cranberry, which has a very natural flavor. As the taste progresses, notes of moderate alcohol appear. Finishes with a lingering, sweet, punch note.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, fairly full, with stinging carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Its really not that bad. While not particularly beer-like, at $2.29 plus tax for a twenty-five ounce can, its hard to hate this more than the mediocre $17.99 craft beer bomber I had recently. Bud Light Lime Cran-Brrr-Rita is a good value for the money; for the price paid, I think I received my "money's worth" and more.

Presentation: Packaged in a twenty-five once aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice. (1,046 characters)

25 oz can poured into a DFH signature glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish color with a purple hue. No head. Body is lightly hazy with a good bit of visible carbonation.

Smell: Artificial grape, cranberry, cherry kool-aid, clean grainy malt and slight booze.

Taste: Big sugary sweetness, cherry, lime, but mostly just a generic artificial fruit punch like character. Really sweet, but there is a hint of tartness as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium-ish bodied with medium carbonation. Thin mouthfeel, but leaves a sticky sugary feeling as well. Finishes sweet. Leaves a light warming in the throat, but overall hides the booze much better than anticipated.

Overall: Not good, but nowhere near as bad as I was anticipating. This is basically hard fruit punch/kool-aid rather than beer, so it's a bit hard to rate, but for what it is, it's not bad. (848 characters)

236ml can, another broken case 'find', at my local sad-as-shit liquor store conglomerate outlet.

This, well, 'beer', pours a clear, and generally kid's candy purple colour, with zero appreciable head, and even less (wait, what?) lingering lace anywhere near the glass as things slowly march southwards.

It smells of sugary cranapple punch bowl, and little else - berries, booze, and good times in bikinis! The taste is overly saccharine cran-this and cran-that, but nothing that will keep my teeth from dialing the nearest dental clinic, even at this ungodly hour. Ok, there is a beer under all of this alcohol and lab-approved 'cranberry' essence, but, right - it's just Bud Light, so look that the fuck up if you actually care.

The carbonation is more heady than anything else I've yet seen from this offering, the body a 'solid' medium weight, all fruit juice, all the bloody time. It finishes sweet, sweet, and maybe just a bit less than sweet, as the 16-proof alcohol eventually asserts its provenance.

Yep - add an already barely tangential beer brand name to an effort clearly aimed at non-beer-drinkers, and what have we - oh, right, a cocktail, one which actually has a lot more merit as a quaffable beverage (ya know, the fruit and the ABV), than the base watered-down beer. I'm still astounded at how far AB-InBev has to take things before BA treats them like they do craft ciders. (1,400 characters)

So... I got a mixpack and decided to review these guys. The appearance is bright red with pink foam. The smell is all sugar with some cranberry and lime scents coming through. The taste was very similar with so much sugar it made my teeth hurt after a few sips. I found the aftertaste to be a big turn off. At least the mouthfeel was thin enough and it wasn't too syrupy. (371 characters)

The fact that I am FINALLY reviewing this for inclusion in THe CANQuest (TM) illustrates just how difficult an undertaking this CAN be at times. I had several photos submitted, each rejected for various reasons. I finally had to buy a used tripod before I could get a pic that would be approved. Whoosh!

From the CAN: "Limited Winter Edition"; "Margarita with a Twist"; "Try It Over Ice!"; "Enjoy Responsibly Please Recycle".

The loud Crack! told me that it had not lost any of its carbonation since I initially bought it, but given that there was going to be 25 (!) fl. oz. of it, the Glug would not be inverted. Watching it pour into my glass caused me to involuntarily let out a guffaw of laughter. It was magenta! OMFG! It fizzed like soda pop, quickly reducing its head to nothingness, leaving me with a glass filled with what I CAN only describe as looking like beet juice (SRM = N/A), but with great clarity. It did not smell like beet juice, however. It smelled like cranberry jelly on the table at Thanksgiving at my maternal Grummy's house every year when I was growing up. I just could not help but laugh again. It is very difficult to take a beer such as this seriously. Mouthfeel was thin, but fizzy, very much like soda pop. More laughter. The taste was very tart, very much like cranberry and with the addition of lime, it was like drinking alum. I do not think that I will be playing the trumpet right after I am done with this. My lips were puckered harder than last summer, when the Old Lady put me on an eastbound train, possibly out of her life forever. Oh no! This beer is causing melancholia to set in and there was no warning on the label! Finish was reminiscent of a SweeTart CANdy. It had both a sweetness and a tartness, with the emphasis on tart. It was not "Awful" as it seems to be currently rated, but neither was it something that I would want to drink a second time. It was like fizzy Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail. Ha ha ha. (1,966 characters)

A-red with light head that faded so fast I could not see what color it was
S-cranberry, very sweet, and fruity
T-cranberry taste with a mixed drink feel
M-light carbonation with a mixed drink feel
O-I think this is what they were trying to produce, and they did a nice job (272 characters)

A friend brought over a case of these 8 ounce cans for the last party with about half of them still left. Decided to try one last night on 1/2/14. Can(s) are chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a pilsner glass.

Pours a purplish-red in color with a very small head that goes away in like a minute. No lacing was seen. Slightly above average carbonation. The aroma is of faint cranberries with a hint of lime but no grains. The taste wasn't too great. Like a cheap cranberry juice cocktail with some grain alcohol added. No 'beer' taste at all. On the tart side as would be excepted. If I wanted a Margarita, I would make one! :) (655 characters)

I guess why I am really disappointed is because I was hoping for some kind of beer taste. There was none. It is like a smoothie that has alcohol in it: and even that was a disappointment. You can't taste the alcohol. I get where they get Brrr- Rita from trying to compare it to a Margarita. However, I think it should just be called Bud Light Smoothie (Lime). (359 characters)

Rating this based on the style, a flavored malt beverage...

From can, poured over ice (as suggested) into a goblet

A-pours purplish-red, less than a finger head of white foam, dissipates quickly

S-Faint cranberry and lime, very faint

T-Cranberry juice cocktail, sugar/corn syrup, and some lime and booze, somewhat tart.

M-Carbonation is lighter than other flavored malt beverages in the same genre, slight effervescence, relatively thin

O-Less syrupy sweet than other beverages in this category. Reminded me less of a margarita and more like a cranberry/vodka drink w/ lime. Repeat purchase is highly unlikely despite the ease at which this beverage can be consumed. (674 characters)

A- Pours purely reddish purple in color; basically the color on the box. Small bit of white carbonation comes to the top, then is gone with no lacing.

S- Straight cranberry juice, but just a little sweeter than actual juice. Not much else in this one.

T- Sweet then tart cranberry is the entire flavor of this one, beginning to end. Slight bit of tartness towards the end, with a bit of dull bitterness form the alcohol mixed in there too. Not nearly as sweet as its lime and strawberry sisters. Lingering cranberry bite on the tongue, similar to cranberry juice.

M- Highly carbonated, syrupy, yet thin on the palate. It's sticky because of the high levels of sugar, but also light in weight. The alcohol will catch up to you here, as well as the sugar.

Overall, I can give props to flavor for really nailing the cranberry taste. This tastes like actual cranberry juice, with a little bit of sugar, carbonation, and of course alcohol mixed in. Not terribly sweet like the other Ritas, but also not really a beer. An interesting, and not bad, flavor for the holidays. (1,070 characters)
