I found this single 12oz brown bottle in the discount bin at the Foremost Liquor store in Glendale Heights, IL for 75¢. Despite being a Bud product, there was no born on date or best before date anywhere on the bottle.

The beer poured a cloudy pale gold color and it made a 2-finger soap suds looking white head, but the head dissipated before I could even finish typing 2-finger head, and it left no lacing whatsoever.

It smells like honey, caramel, and wheat.

I can taste the honey, I can taste the caramel, and I can taste the wheat ... BUT where's the bourbon? The only other flavor I get in here is an awful medicinal taste. If there's any hops in here at all I sure can't find them, so there is nothing to balance out all the sweetness from the honey and the caramel. It's just too damn sweet - liked sweetened alcohol instead of sweetened bourbon. Yuk!

It's between light and medium bodied with higher than average carbonation.

I enjoyed the original Shock Top Belgian Wheat, but so far I haven't found any of the other flavored ones to be any good, and this one comes in ranked at the bottom of them all.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tall pilsner glass.

Appearance: It has a very thick and cloudy look with some carbonation and an orange amber color. An aggressive pour makes for a tall white soapy head which fades out quickly leaving no lacing at all.

Smell: The aroma has lots of sweet maltiness with a heavy dose of clover honey and bready notes.

Taste / Palate: It’s flavor starts off a big sweet mess. It is a very odd sweetness that somehow makes me think of sweet potatoes covered in honey and marshmallows then spiced with cardamom and cinnamon. Mid way though an odd bitterness moves in and brings a light woody oak musty note. It also brings along some dry herbal/leafy bitterness into the finnish. It’s full bodied and complex but not in a good way. The palate feels smooth, full and a little slick which makes it less drinkable.

Really creepy faux honey flavor, and l did not taste any bourbon cask flavor at all. Although I drank an entire bottle in hopes of "acquiring a taste" for it since it was "something different" for me, I would never drink this again. This seems to be an epic attempt to cover many flavor profiles to please many, but it probably pleased not a single soul. Sorry, but this is a total bust for me.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

Not much of a head, decent lacing. Hazy light amber hue. Odd perfume-like nose, cloying with faux booziness. Flavor is pretty much the same ... odd perfume-like flavor. Honey? I guess. Bourbon Cask flavor ... sure but it seems really force and yet again, odd. Belgian inspired wheat? No way. Some of the masses will fall for this one but in the end this is an outright failed attempt to be "crafty".

Look Shock Top and Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat have all bad connotations. Starting with their first Bourbon cask winter ale. This looks nice though a deep honey golden orange glazed hue with a bright white head forming thick, fine speckled lacing left behind.

Aroma has honey nut cheerio grain notes, with big perceived sweetness and hints of oak barrel offerings there's nothing that makes me scream bourbon. A bit of orange peel is detected with those creamy characteristics.

The first sip is a cloying honey oak note that lingers with the honey notes just dripping down each layer of every sip it's horrible. Horrible artificial bourbon barrel notes in this honey drenched wheat ale it's an abomination of a beer.

Mouthfeel is cloying in every aspect if this beer doesn't induce the gag reflux something is wrong with your palate, honest to god...it numbs your tongue with alcohol notes and citrus peel while the honey gets caught in the back of the throat nearly inducing you to want to vomiting.

Overall, this beer is a drain pour from the second you start sipping until the end, AB would have to pay me money to give any positive review notes on this beer a completely hideous beer experience that the big boys can keep for themselves.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Hazy orange with a fleeting head and moderate lacing.

S - A floral - honey smell dominates.

T - Very sweet from honey with what seemed like a bit of a maple syrup finish.

M - Surprisingly thin with little body and very moderate carbonation.

O - A bit of a disappointment considering the hype. Not "bad" but just not good. I won't be buying this one again.

Pours a cloudy piss yellow. Limited lace.

Smells more of sweet honey than beer (or bourbon, for that matter). I dunno. Never experienced anything like this one before.

Tastes like a honey-infused sweet soft drink. Plenty of vanilla, but the "bourbon" character is virtually nonexistent . This one drinks more like a cream soda. A weird, off-balance cream soda. Not beer. Just no.

Shock Top Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat
12 oz. brown bottle, dated "14114 BE 0"
$8.49/six pack @ Publix, Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL

Appearance: Hazy, orange, golden, and amber body (it looks like honey) beneath a short head of frothy white. Head retention and lacing are average.

Smell: Sweet, honey, cereal, wheat, wood, some Bourbon, oak, floral. Interesting, and welcoming.

Taste: Surprisingly not at all as sweet as the nose suggests. In fact it's a touch tangy upfront. Grain and caramel notes follow, and then oak and dryness going into the finish with a dusting of spiciness. The honey returns, and then the Bourbon becomes very clear, backed by oaky dryness. As you progress through the glass the spiciness rises, lingering on your palate.

Mouthfeel: Light/medium in body with a very fine bubbled moderate carbonation.

Overall: Unique. Interesting. The blend of honey and Bourbon is interesting, and the spice really rounds it out. Worth trying.

What the **** ?
This is one strange brew.
It has a cloudy, hazy orange color of an unfiltered wheat beer.
I smell something sweet, but I can't identify what it is.
It has a watery mouth feel. Sweetness, from the honey.
I get some wood and vanilla on the back end.
It leaves an odd after taste after the swallow.
The flavors do not work well together and it is a chore just to finish one of these.

Anheuser-Busch can and does make good beers,
I am not one to hate a beer just because it is from one of the big brewers.
But this beer is awful.
Should be avoided at all costs!
