Pours a dark brown with a decent head and some lacing. Smell is of a typical macro lager, but with some roasted grain and maybe a hint of some coffee. There is maybe a little bit of coffee in the taste, hard to sense any hops even though the label suggests a perfect balance of hops, saying that this taste existed in this beer is just being nice, it just tasted so off, I expected a lot more from this. Mouthfeel was overcarbonated and on the thin side. Drinkability was awful to me, I thought at the very least this would be drinkable, but I just do not care for this, it is almost a task to finish.

Look:
Pours a transparent light brown color with an off white khaki head of thin foam that fizzles away very quickly and leaves very little lacing.

Aroma:
Light banana bread, breakfast toast, red apple.

Taste:
Almost seltzer like. . . caramel malt, red apple and brown sugar. No hop profile to speak of.

Feel:
Very light body. Thin and flat.

Overall:
Barely drinkable, there's really not a whole lot to say about this. It's unremarkable and boring.
I'm not quite sure who would drink this, certainly not fans of craft beer, and certainly not people who want something cheap or to session. I don't know, but gimme a Yuengling or a Modelo Negra over this any day.

My favorite of the macros...in fact, one of the few macros that doesn't taste like Aquafina. A solid, drinkable bock that doesn't taste too bitter, but tastes like a mild darker beer. I agree with the other dark bread flavor reviews, plus it's lighter on the hops. This is probably what ABInBev is shooting for, and it's not bad. Good with food, and looks good poured into a dimpled stein.

Yeah, there’s better bocks out there………but, this is relatively inexpensive and poundable, it is high in carbonation and is better chilled to minimum of 36 degrees. Great with steak and burgers, plus this is 5.1 ABV so it’s kind of like Budweiser+.1 with a nice hint of a bock overall. BBQ party beer!

Pours, well, amber with a slight head that rapidly dissipates. Aromas of toffee and caramel. Taste follows with some brown bread as well as a hint of chocolate or cocoa. Basically no hop aroma or flavor discernable. Lighter bodied than expected--feels thin. Overall, not bad but not good either. I'd grab this over quite a few other macros if forced to choose.

Not a bad beer at all, just overpriced. I mean come on, it’s a fucking Michelob after all so why pay the price of micro brew for it!? If I had to pick an AB-InBev beer to drink I would choose this one.

12oz bottle pours a rich medium brown color with a small fizz of tan-colored head that disappears immediately. Smells of dark, roasted malts. Light flavor of roasted malts with hints of caramel, dark bread, coffee, and cocoa. Slight sweetness, a small bitterness and a weirdly quick finish. Medium body with a moderate amount of carbonation in the mouthfeel and a slight watery feel as well.

My expectations were pretty low for this beer, but it actually exceeded them by a good bit. The lightness of the flavor, the strangely quick finish, and the slight wateriness bring this down for sure, but it's probably the best macro beer I've had by a long shot. The flavor is actually decent, and the beer isn't ruined by a poor malt-hop balance or weird flavors. Surprisingly solid and would definitely drink it again if I'm offered it or would pick it up if I'm very strapped for craft options at the store.

12oz bottle. Stamp on label reads '23061'.
Clear, deep amber colored body. Off white head. No lacing.
Aroma has some malts and some hops. Nothing deep nor complex.
Taste is sweet and has a commercially manipulated flavor. The malts are thin, stretched, and sweetened. There is a minor hop bitterness. The aftertaste meanders.
Medium mouth feel, but has an odd sourness to it. Light on the carbonation.
A very non-craft made lager, which is darker in color but is oversweetened in the nose and in the flavor.

I haven’t had any of the AB branded beers in a long time, preferring to stick with heartier fare. Last night, I went to a restaurant which served nothing but the standard AB stuff.

Faced with a choice of Bud Light, Bud, Michelob Ultra, and Amber Bock, or wine, I chose the Amber Bock.

In the glass, it was light brown and transparent with a very thin head. It had a watery mouth feel. The head dissipated very quickly.

Although it looked tasty enough, looks can be deceiving. It was practically flavorless. What I could taste was middle of the road with zero complexity. On the label, they are the words “dark lager”. True, it has a darker color than a typical lager. However, I think the flavor is far too weak to compete with any lager, much less the dark ones. It certainly does not merit the term “bock”, because boxer supposed to have a rich flavor. At best it’s a pretend bock. I can’t imagine anyone who truly enjoys beer ever ordering a second bottle of this lifeless beverage.

Amberboch is the best beer! It’s what I drink and cook with every other beer “pales” in comparison.

This beer is the last bastion of the original Michelob. The now “Original Michelob” is not even the same style it once was.
This one is a rusty Amber color with no lacing and smells of corn, maybe a scent of wheat, but still smells like the 60’s-80’s Michelob. It tastes very good. It is smooth, has a few hops unlike most macros, and leaves zero aftertaste. It should not be $30 a case, I mean, who drinks Michelob any longer, but if it were closer to $22 a case, I’d buy this frequently.

A cold pint at The Veranda Lounge in Saint Cloud, MN.
L: Pours dark brown w lighter edges, a thin white head with poor retention, goes quickly to edge foam, low carbo, light lacing.
S: Very light toasted caramel malts, a hint of raisins, light brown bread, very light dark fruits.
T: Taste follows aroma and is lightly sweet with a gentle bitter finish. A hint of peat. Not much after taste. Quite clean.
F: Crushable med-light feel with a lightly drying finish.
O: Glad I got this on tap. It is surprisingly quite drinkable, very good tasting and has a good price point. Not a full flavored Bock but rather one that is light on its feet. I really enjoy its dry finish. Imagine Negra Modelo Light (if it existed). That's what the taste and feel are like. It is good in its style.

12oz bottle

on the pour almost 1 finger of head forms, but it quickly dissipates to a tiny cap and ring around the glass. Decent carbonation in a dark copper brown body. No lacing but some head sticks around.

Aroma is light but I can pick up a sweet figgy toffee note. Not necessarily obviously malty, and there are no hops. Slight BMC lager yeast charcter, but not a whole lot.

Flavor follows the smell quite closely with the sweet caramel malts coming through, but not in a bready way. Again remniscent of BMC lager but darker. In fact this reminds me a big of Genesee Honey Brown with the sweetness. Not as sweet as honey brown, and definitely more actual "brown" flavors.

Feel is drinkable and dry. Pretty light bodied, with a medium short finish. Medium high carbonation, it feels like a darker american lager, which is to say refreshing and crisp but slightly more full.

Overall for the price this is pretty dang good, but it is getting a bit rare. I think I prefer classic Michelob Lager, but I haven't seen that beer in a while, and I'm not actually sure if it's sold anymore. Drinkable and a bit more flavorful than traditional AALs.
