Brewed with two-row and roasted caramel malt for a rich color, and a blend of hand-selected premium American and Bavarian hops for balance and flavor. Budweiser Select spends approximately twice as long as regular beers in the brewhouse, which results in lower carbohydrate and calorie content after fermentation.

Appearance: Very pale yellow. No foam or lacing, but definitely a lot of active carbonation. Looks a bit like Sprite.

Smell: Nothing awful here to be honest. Smells pretty neutral, with the exception of some faint metal. It's just ok.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Kind of a stale, sour grain taste. Definitely a dry beer. Mouthfeel is actually kind of rough and first, but gets smooth as you drink. Pretty sure this is because it flattens pretty quick.

Drinkability: The odd mouthfeel makes this one tough.

Overall: Find a better light lager. (534 characters)

Poured from 12oz can. Please note that this review is to style and not personal taste.

A- Pours a pale golden straw color. Two finger white head shows light retention and dies to a cap on the beer (hard pour). Light streaky lacing left on the sides of the glass.

S- Sweet malts and cereal grains make up most of the aroma. The nose is very sweet and a light alcohol is present but nothing over the top. The aroma is typical adjunct aroma but a bit on the muted side.

T- Sweet malts come in the front with a cereal grainy veggy taste as well. There is a artifical presence in the backing but I can't seem to make out what it is. The hops if any are hidding in the backing of the beer. The alcohol comes out in the final moments in a sweet non-offensive matter.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is higher for me but dead on for the style. Light overall sweetness left on the palate. More cornlike flavor and sweetness from the alcohol left in the aftertaste. Flavors were balanced and well..very sweet and muted overall. Clean tasting but I woudn't include crisp in the same breath. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- This is a drinkable beer but would I want a sixer of this? Nope. The ABV is low enough that a sixer plus is very doable. I would pick this out of my choice of mainstream light lagers though for what it is worth. (1,347 characters)

Pours a sickly looking pale straw yellow with a thin white soapy head and no lacing. Smells of grain and corn maybe a little yeast. Tastes of bitterness and sweetness although nothing is really prominent enough to pick out other than some corn or rice. High carbonation. Thin mouthfeel. Low drinkability. Quite nasty. (317 characters)

AWFUL. This 'beer' just smells from moldly boiled rice and has no scent of alcohol. Pale yellowish color, no head no lacing, and almost clear. Makes me wonder why I am drinking this. The flavor is mostly like a bitter moldy rice soda. The beer if flat... AVOID!!! (263 characters)

Reviewed from notes, although it's hard to forget this.

Pours as if someone put two drops of yellow food coloring inside of a glass of water. Pours with a bit of white head, but that quickly recedes into nothing and leaves zero lacing. Smells like a stale loaf of bread in between slices of cardboard. Tastes about the same, although thankfully tames it down a bit. Feel and drinkability is about the same as carbonated water. (427 characters)

Look - Very light golden hue, but not quite pale light. Very little head. Slow but steady carbonation.

Smell - I honestly can't smell a thing.

Taste - very little taste as well. Almost no bitterness..maybe just a very little bit toward the back of the palate, almost undiscernable.

Mouthfeel - very watery in texture, but not quite as much so as some of the other super adjunct lagers.

Drinkability - it would be easy enough to drink something like this like water due to the almost complete lack of smell, taste, and aftertaste. As far as wanting to drink it, it's fairly boring. (586 characters)

Served...on a boat. That is all I will say.

Found this for fifty cents at a local bait shop/general store during Man's Weekend. A pour results in a clear jaundice topped by over a finger of short-lived white suds. The nose comprises corn, corn syrup, and hard water. The taste is nearly identical, though the calcium from the hard water is intensified a bit and some aluminum foil is added for "good measure". The body is rather light, with a heavy moderate carbonation and a relatively easy-going feel. Overall, not the worst thing I've put in my mouth, but not something I'd generally go after at a bar or something without a harsh lack of choice about it. (659 characters)

12 oz. bottle at the local bar selling Bud Select for a buck. I've had worse I guess is what I'd say. It actually has more flavor than its other light beer counterparts but it's still a relatively light workout for the taste buds.

Pours with a 2 finger head that disappears quickly with some plastic like lace remaining on the glass.

Light bodied, pale appearance. Probably not bad if you're at an outside event in the broiling sun. (434 characters)

My only other exposure to this particular beer was at Lollapalooza 2006, where the choices were Bud, Bud Light, and Bud Select. Scenes of that Simpsons' gag where Homer visits the Duff brewery came immediately to mind...and I drank Bud Select all bloody afternoon, because it was still a better deal than the bottled water they were shilling...

This beer pours a perfectly clear, very pale straw hue, with two fingers of rapidly disappearing soapy white head, which leaves some sparse strands of lace around the glass. It smells of mild corn grain, and timid earthy, weedy hops. The taste is soft corn, and pretty much nothing else. The carbonation is on the low side, the body light and airy, and it finishes mostly sweet, the thin corn grain trumping the long absent greenish hops.

Nothing proffered, nothing rejected. The absence of anything to critique makes this one unfair fight. Drink it if you just don't care, and you won't know any better... (953 characters)

consumed 03-29-2009, 12oz can into pint glass

appearance: pours a light straw color with little to no head and no lacing.

smell: maybe a hint of grain? not much aroma.

taste: somewhat like the smell. very close to water with a slight grain note. almost not aftertaste.

mouthfeel: very thin mouthfeel with lots of carbonation.

drinkability: if you can drink sparkling water, you can drink this. its not offensive in any way, just very bland with little to no flavor. (472 characters)

Well, I gotta say that this was easy drinking. Taste, flavor didn't make much of an appearance, so it was like fizzy water.

And that's what it looks like. Pale yellow with a huge head. Looks light...like water. Water is a good refresher.

Aroma? Not much. What I do pick out is stale straw and socks.

Fizzy feel to it. Taste is watered down Bud. Grainy and musty. Not sure why anyone would drink this. If you want low calories, hit the ice water. (449 characters)

Ok, this is one of the better AB brews and it still isn't very good, although it is better than regular Budweiser. I would not recommend to anyone to spend their hard earned money on one of these, but if youre at a party and all they have is this stuff and its free, go for it, other than that, keep on moving, spend your $6 on lottery tickets or charity. (355 characters)

This beer has a little more heaviness than regular Bud, which is a slight plus. However, it's still a very bland, faintly corn-flavored beer. If not poured right you'll get a ton of head from all of the carbonation. It's pretty much as pale of an amber as you can get without being yellow. Smells of corn, as well as tastes like it. While better than their light beers, it's still nothing great. (395 characters)

A- Pours a straw yellow. No head.
S- Almost no smell whatsoever. Maybe some graininess to it.
T- Not much here at all. Carbonation crispness, maybe a bit of grain taste. Largely... nothing.
M- Thin, but not as much as some light lagers i guess. The intense carbonation feels like it's scrubbing your tongue for you.
D- Like all BMC this beer is made with drinkability in mind. That being said, there are other AB products I prefer if you are sticking to this brand. (466 characters)

Appears, smells, and has the same mouthfeel as every other American light beer I've tried before. It's body however is a little fuller than the rest so I would place this one a bit higher if we were comparing apples to apples. For those nights I feel like re-living the fantasy days of college and taking down a two-four, then this the one for me. (347 characters)

Boring with a capital B.

The color makes it look more like champagne instead of beer. The taste is just so lite and domestic, not exciting at all.

It's a good choice for beer pong I've discovered. More beer with fewer calories, but I will never order one of these at a bar, or pop one open to enjoy on my veranda. (315 characters)

On-tap at The Flamingo Bar in St. Petersburg. I am sitting at the very same bar where Jack Kerouac had his last drink, also a place where Babe Ruth used to shoot pool in the offseason. Too bad they don't have any good or even decent beer.

A - Pale straw hue, check! Thin white head, check! Good lace, huh?

S - The best thing I could say is that is smells quite clean in a filthy smoky bar. I guess there is a method to ABs madness.

T - It is fairly dry and perhaps less cheap tasting than other Bud products. Very watery and very slightly flavored, bordering on flavorless.

M - BMC. Thin. Not as wimpy as many BMC.

D - To be honest, it reminds me of a retired A-B offering: Bud Dry. In fact, all that comes to mind, relative to this beer, is: "Why ask why? Try Bud Dry." (775 characters)

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint glass.

Appearance: Very pale and almost has an artificial neon glow. Almost no head.

Smell: Sweet, sickly grains.

Taste: Not much. A little bit of of sweet apple when cold. Starts tasting like metal as it warms.

Feel: Extremely high carbonation with almost no body.

Drinkability: Overall, it seems like carbonated water that has gone bad. On the plus side, I guess it is drinkable. (430 characters)

Budweiser Select is a Light Beer brewed by Anheuser Busch. This brew has an ABV of 4.1 %. Budweiser Select is lighter than Bud Light. This brew pours out a nice light amber color with a nice white head. These smell is sweet with some grains and malts. The taste is bold but smooth. You pick up on the grains and malts in this brew. Budweiser Select has a good taste for a light beer. This beer dose go down nice real nice. The mouthfeel is light smooth and refreshing. I would have a Budweiser Select over Bud Light any Day. Good light beer. Anheuser-Busch did a nice job with this one. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4.5 out of 5. (642 characters)

This is my first review, and I thought I'd kick it off with a light macro since I happen to be enjoying it right now! I've been wanting to try this for awhile, but it is only sold in sealed 18 packs around me. So, I decided to risk it and just grab an 18 pack one day.

Poured from a 12oz bottle to a pilsner glass. Pure white head (about 1 inch) died away within about 15 seconds. The color is a pale yellow, while being slightly darker than Bud Light (or regular Bud for that matter).

After noting it's rather normal, average appearance I went in for a smell. This is the worst part of this beer. The smell is not appetizing at all, coming off as bland and almost metallic. Luckily, the taste and drinkability save this beer. The mouthfeel is of corn or rice, with an odd aftertaste (there isn't much of an aftertaste though, goes away quickly). The highest score for this particular beer is it's drinkability. You can certainly down a few, and it can quench your thirst on a hot day. It's also only 99 calories if you're concerned about that.

In the end, it's a rather bland beer that smells bad, but makes up for it slightly with good drinkability and a nice low calorie count. (1,185 characters)

Poured from 12 oz can into mug. Color is slightly darker than the average light beer, and the head slowly dissipates, leaving no lacing. Slight smell of flowers, but nothing else either bad or good there. Initial taste is of metal and carbonation; slightly skunky as well. After the first few sips, taste become that of the smell: not a whole lot either bad or good. Overall, decent for what it is; it's rather inoffensive in most categories, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have another. (491 characters)

Reviewed from notes.

Pale straw color with a thin white head. Not impressive. Smells like some grain and mostly water. Taste the same. Why is this even produced? Mouthfeel is as thin as anything I have had before. Over carbonated. Some metallic aftertaste...from a bottle? Yuck. (280 characters)

Well, as some people on here have said, I hate Bud Light. I think it has a sharp, unpleasant taste that continues to astonish me as to how people drink it so often. Budweiser is decent but far from the top. That being said, Bud Select is a pretty decent brew that I have no trouble drinking. Of course, 2.25 for a 25 oz mug here at a bar in Plantation, FL (Landlubber's Raw Bar for all you Broward folks who may read this) helps , but regardless it is something I'm having an easier time tolerating than I was expecting. The foamy head is actually pretty impressive, although it's a 25 ouncer not a pint but still. The taste is a tolerable mix of corn, hops and carbonation but not an overpowering sharpness that I get from Bud Light. It seems to me that Bud Select is very unappreciated among the beer buyers because although this isn't top of the line, it certainly beats out BL and honestly I'd rather have this than Budweiser also. (935 characters)

With want of better things to do, I went to the local wine and spirits and ventured to try some new beers. I saw this one sitting on the shelf next to his sister, the Select 55 (which I particularly like). Attractive black packaging screams "try me". I picked up a 6'er to sip on while I was making dinner.

Straight out of the bottle, I see a golden Amber color with light lacing. Looks simple but also deceiving as it seems to have some texture as well.

At first crack it smells strongly like classic budweiser (with its signature skunk), hints of metallic tomato dissolving faintly and a few "dark" floral notes. Light ale undertones, and I'm also getting the obvious corn/yeast ale aroma swirling around in there, signifying indeed that it is still a cheap domestic beer. When smelled up close there's that classic unpleasant budweiser skunk that makes you want to gag. (as the liquid in the bottle disappears, so does the skunk, fortunately.) This beer smells like everything and nothing at the same time. Impressive?

As the beer hit my palate I was mildly appalled but after 2 seconds a "mask" kicked in and somehow brainwashed me to believe the beer I was drinking was actually decent. Sneaky, if not ackward. After I swallowed I was left with a pleasant aftertaste of bitter dark chocolate (mild) and a dark roma tomato flavor. Very very light floral notes remain on the back of the tongue.

The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated - definitely not smooth but not soda water either. The finish remains for about 8 seconds after it's down the hatch. Towards the bottom of the bottle the skunkiness returns (Dagnabit!)

This beer is not one of my favorites. Would I buy it again? Maybe in a pinch. I actually prefer the Bud Select 55 over this - perhaps because the skunk notes are watered down and the clashing isn't near as intense.

Recommended if you are looking to try something new. Don't set your hopes too high, though.
