Hurricane

We used to refer to this beast as "Slurricane"

APPEARANCE: 1.99 a bottle. They gave me a paper bag and put the bottle in it. In traditional fashion it was consumed appearing in its usual guise, the aforementioned bag. Nothing less than an average appearance in this most exceptional case.

SMELL: Sweet corn, unified grains, and a sweet green apple taffy scent. Malt liquor in many ways is like candy for drunkards and enthusiasts alike.

TASTE: Grainy and somewhat sweet upfront, but balanced by an odd cooked vegetable hop and grain one-two punch. Some flaccid bitterness but nothing really balances much besides the drying cardboard finish. Definitely an exceptional and perplexing dryness in a mostly stale fashion.

FEEL: Light bodied, champagne like carbonation, and more than ample stale dryness.

OVERALL: Now listed at 6% abv, this is a cheap, accessible and easy to consume beverage. It's alot more of a beer than the fruit infused lagers taking over the market these days. I'd stick with this over many of the lime or berry infused alternatives, especially when money becomes tight. You can do much worse, sadly.

Appearance:
Hurricane pours a radiant oompa-loompa orange with all the bubbles of a fizzy lifting drink. I think there's a little bit of corn stuck to the side of my glass. Head fades quickly with lacing reminiscent of a Taiwanese prostitute.

Smell:
Smells like sour apples, charred oak, and freedom. It is quite hard to pay attention to the tasting while everyone else is watching midget porn on the other couch.

Taste:
Hurricane tastes like America- From the mountains to the valleys to the broceans white with beer foam. Mild soapiness develops into sweet corn malt with a hint Fruity Pebbles on the back end. The flavor coats the mouth not unlike cough syrup - in that I will probably be tasting it when I wake up tomorrow morning. There are no hops of which to speak of, they're probably just being overpowered by awesome.

Mouthfeel:
Pretty light on the tongue, but also slippery like two babies who are KY wrestling. This could also be due to the high number of times that I have pretentiously swirled my tasting glass around. Would like to have had more carbonation, but one malt liquor can't have EVERYTHING? right? can it? guys?

Overall:
Wind up flashlight? check. Matches? check. Toilet paper? check. Now all you need it some way drown your sorrows due to the fact that college students and the federal government got the day off, and you just finished swimming home from the office. Look no farther than Hurricane Premium Malt Beverage. No screaming endorsements here, but it gets the job done, and isn't that what life is all about?

Brutal concentrated urine color, no head, just rough adjunct malt liquor appearance. Aroma was largely alcohol and corny sweetness with the addition of some of the fragrance from a garage that specializes in doing car repairs/maintenance.

Very thin body, rawkus taste, alcohol so pronounced. Residual corn sweetness only seems to further contribute to the rough experience. No hops. Like drinking that corn based ethanol. 85 Octane. Carbonation is high, which usually can help alleviate a horrible taste from resonating too long, but here, it just seems like you get all the crap stuck in your sinus cavity because of it. The taste permeates your whole face and torso.

This is one of the tougher challenges to choke down.

Forty ounce bottle yo money yo bash...yep folks those are ol' dirty Bastard lyrics I have to pay homage to one of my seventh grade hereoes...Russel Jones one of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan. Appearance is straw golden with a bright white head leaves thin lacing, yo. Aroma is semi sweet no hops grainy sugary tones harsh corn and rice. Taste is not overly sweet mild graininess no hop flavor very mild bitterness alcohol flavors in the finish kinda run of the mill. Mouthfeel light bodied somewhat sticky with residual sugars high carbonation. Drinkability is refreshing just doesn't do it for me as a whole, and I feel like this malt liquor is another bud product for the masses.

Ice cold 40 poured into a very clean glass after shoveling 6 inches of snow on 18 degree (5 degree wind chill) Kentucky day.

A - Pours a golden color with a 1 finger head that retreats to a thin lace.

S - Sweetness and corn. You don't buy malt liquor for the bouquet.

T - Adjunct dominated with some sweetness.

M - Decent carbonation level - a very clean finish.

O - I'll openly admit that I've like this stuff for a long time. I used to think it was just King Cobra in a different package but they are totally different animals. This is a malt liquor after all...inexpensive and gets the job done. Frankly I have always wondered why regular BMC drinkers don't go for this stuff since I think it tastes better than Bud or BL and packs a decent punch.

I try to judge every beer I taste on it's specific merits; and I don't bring style or personal preferences into it. In fact, I'm a fan of malt liquors, but... ... this one is not real good. And that's very surprising since it comes from Budweiser, but in a way it all makes sense. This is a very clean (except for the fruitiness) unobtrusive lager. I feel it's a bit too limited for the style! That said, it has a deep gold color with a thick (but not very dense) head and a generic malt & hop aroma. The body is fairly light. I was expecting a little more flavor... it has a fruitiness but limited maltiness - and no hop flavor. Very low bitterness. Finishes fruity but very clean.

Oh man. I bought a 40oz of this stuff when an actual hurricane was approaching North Carolina, but it did't really come my way, and it sat in my fridge for a couple of months. Aging probably didn't do this any favors. Drinking it directly from the 40oz bottle, still wrapped in the brown paper bag. Looks a rather sickly darkish yellow color, with a fizzy white head inside the bottle. Smells pretty bad - sour, slightly skunky aroma. Taste actually isn't that bad. Standard adjunct lager taste, with a bit more kick to it. Slightly thick mouthfeel. I'm gonna have some trouble getting the entire 40 down tonight.

Epilogue: I finished the 40. Then I had a bottle of PBR (baby steps, folks, baby steps). It tasted like a nice hoppy craft brew in comparison.

Haha everyone loves a good 40 ounce of Malt Liquor from time to time. I personally don't have much of a problem with Hurricane, in fact it is probably one of the better Anheuiser Busch Products out there in my opinion. Hurricane has a unique mouthfeel and a somewhat sweet taste. Its' really not that bad considering its a malt liquor.

40 oz bottle spread amongst several of us on 2/3/10 to celebrate Deuane hitting the BIG 40.

Pours a clear gold, topped with a fizzy bright-white head. This sticks around for the most part with a foamy look. The aroma smells of light floral hops, corn bread, and that's about it. And that's probably actually giving it too much credit.

The taste is sweet with a mix of corn and bread. I also made the mistake of actually letting this sit on the palate to you know, actually try to pick up some flavor but was overwhelmed with a disgusting flush of raw vegetable character. Blech! The mouthfeel is thin and watery and seems more like something that I would rinse my glass out, instead of an actual beer that I would sit down and try.

I tend to not want to try beers of this caliber, so my rating might be skewered a bit towards the low side but what can I say, this was some pretty terrible stuff.

Poured from a clear 40 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smells of malts, slightly sweet. Taste is basically of malts and corn. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has decent drinkability. Overall not that bad as far as malt liquors go.

40oz of feel good.
Very cheap, don't have to plug your nose to get it down, and it's pretty cheap. Do not mind gettin one of these down and it keeps my pockets thick. Call me crazy, but I'd say this is better than most shit beers. Did I mention that it's quite inexpensive.

From the 24 fl. oz. can 10112-NB44. Sampled on June 19, 2010. Everything about this is typical for an adjunct high gravity malt liquor although not carried off as well as some. It pours pale yellow with a little thin white head that dissolves right away. While there are malt hints in the aroma, the main smell I get is metal. The mouthfeel is OK but the taste has a bit of corn and malts but the alcohol remains the most predominant ingredient.
