Ok, rating this as it is. A Malt Liquor. So it's not the most complex beer. It's not the most popular style. I'm fine with that. Well excuse the rambling, time to review this Farm Store Refrigerator Shelf Turd. Ok, this bottle is pure sexiness. Mmm, an H with wings screams buy me! Well this is a good looking brew (no sarcasm). It's a nice shade of yellow with a hint of orange. There was a one finger white soapy head that went away fast. Well let's smell this now. This smells like Western America, Grains, Fertilizer and Rust. Not much to it, but with Malt Liquor it's all about the Bold and Smooth body on it.
Still I go into this beast with an open mind. This tastes better than Bud Ice. The flavor is a lot better than the aroma. There is a first wave of grains and corn juice. There is a sweetness to this brew that is both sweet and tart. With this there is no hop presence only a sweet slightly fruity finish no bitterness. The body on this brew is medium-light and smooth. Carbonation is a bit rough but for $2.50 a Forty, who can argue?

Overall: This brew isn't awful. I have no problem killing the Forty. Bud Ice Forty though is another story. I gave this beer it's fair shake. I know what it is, sometimes I like to spend $2.50 on a single....Forty Ounce! This brew is Worth a Shot.

Ice cold 40 poured into a very clean glass after shoveling 6 inches of snow on 18 degree (5 degree wind chill) Kentucky day.

A - Pours a golden color with a 1 finger head that retreats to a thin lace.

S - Sweetness and corn. You don't buy malt liquor for the bouquet.

T - Adjunct dominated with some sweetness.

M - Decent carbonation level - a very clean finish.

O - I'll openly admit that I've like this stuff for a long time. I used to think it was just King Cobra in a different package but they are totally different animals. This is a malt liquor after all...inexpensive and gets the job done. Frankly I have always wondered why regular BMC drinkers don't go for this stuff since I think it tastes better than Bud or BL and packs a decent punch.

While my rating may seem high, remember that this is malt liquor. People drink malt liquor for two reasons: it's cheap and it gets you ripped. I don't really know of any malt liquor that is truly a pleasant drink, but given price, ABV, and smoothness, Hurricane is the best malt liquor available IMO. you can still get a 40oz for under $3 in many places, and because of this, if you're looking for a cheap buzz, you can afford an extra to pour out for your homies.

Hurricane

We used to refer to this beast as "Slurricane"

APPEARANCE: 1.99 a bottle. They gave me a paper bag and put the bottle in it. In traditional fashion it was consumed appearing in its usual guise, the aforementioned bag. Nothing less than an average appearance in this most exceptional case.

SMELL: Sweet corn, unified grains, and a sweet green apple taffy scent. Malt liquor in many ways is like candy for drunkards and enthusiasts alike.

TASTE: Grainy and somewhat sweet upfront, but balanced by an odd cooked vegetable hop and grain one-two punch. Some flaccid bitterness but nothing really balances much besides the drying cardboard finish. Definitely an exceptional and perplexing dryness in a mostly stale fashion.

FEEL: Light bodied, champagne like carbonation, and more than ample stale dryness.

OVERALL: Now listed at 6% abv, this is a cheap, accessible and easy to consume beverage. It's alot more of a beer than the fruit infused lagers taking over the market these days. I'd stick with this over many of the lime or berry infused alternatives, especially when money becomes tight. You can do much worse, sadly.

T-more of the same, bit off adjunct malt flavor and a strange after taste that is slightly metallic.
M-very light

I've been looking to tick this one for a while, but didn't want to take down a whole 40 by myself, a recent cookout at a friends house gave the chance to spread the pain. I'm going to give a detailed review. This was pretty much an average example of the style. It didn't have the harshness of most, and was actually almost pleasant. Most of the tasters found a slight apple taste that I didn't pick up.

This was surprisingly easy to drink and not at all unpleasant. If you're in the mood for a 40, you could do lot worse than grabbing one of these.

Consumed straight from the 40 oz bottle.

Not much of an aroma to it,light corn smell and some alcohol.

Taste is a little sweet, not terrible tasting.

Mouthfeel is light and it has a clean finish.

Overall its not a terrible malt liquor, it's decent for the style.

Clear 40oz bottle purchased for three dollars American.

Decent golden color.

Not much. Bready with a faint whiff of alcohol.

Light malts and inoffensive adjuncts. Gets more boozy as it warms.

Full bodied upfront but finishes rather dry.

It's alright. Not very rough for a malt liquor but not something you would want to drink alot of.

Poured from 40 oz bottle into grenade pint glass

Appearance – Pours a medium golden color with a big billowy white head. The head is composed of big carbonation bubbles; the ones that are seen rising through the beer. The head fades very fast and gives way to a very light amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma is heavy in corn and has a slight metallic odor.

Taste – The taste is of corn and rice in nature mixed with a metallic flavor. Some astringency comes in and mixes with the other present flavors. There is a little bit of bitterness that comes in the end and leaves a sting on the tongue. It is actually sorta good as it leaves a rather nice tingle and gets rid of some of the less pleasant metallic and astringent flavors.

Mouthfeel –Rather average body with a medium level of carbonation. It helps make the brew easier to drink and is good for the style.

Overall – Not really the best malt out there. With the price of this 40 oz at only at $2.25, what should I expect though, right?

Drank this like it's meant to be drank, straight from the 40 oz. bottle.

Appearance: Golden yellow, cant comment on the head since it's straight from the bottle.

Smell: Skunky, metallic, boozy. Nothing appealing.

Taste: Ugh, it really tastes like mild soap. The finish is slightly grassy and metallic. This is disgusting.

Mouthfeel: Average for a malt liquor. Pretty high carbonation with a light body, easy to guzzle down if you hold your nose so you can't taste it.

Overall: If you're looking for a good malt liquor, avoid this and get a Mickey's.

At the time of this review, this is the #35 American Malt liquor, perhaps it is my general lack of quality drinking since the arrival of my son, perhaps this is the only beer I got to drink today, perhaps because I am so sleep deprived I woke up four stations past my stop on the metro this afternoon but I drank the whole 40 of this and enjoyed it. Fictional God there for the weak willed please help me understand this.

Poured from a 40 ounce bottle into a Paulaner dimpled 1 L mug. Beer is yellow and clear with a big white head with low retention, no lacing but steady carbonation of large bubbles.

Aroma is pretty weak but it smells like malt liquor, a little sweet, a little boozy. Not too bad.

I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that it is a good beer. It is medium to light in body, sweet, decent finish, mild vegetal finish, flat on the palate, it is an adult soda. Not great but something to do while your baby finally sleeps. Cheap and not great but I did drink it, probably won't bother again though.

Drank this because what else should I drink for Hurricane Ilene in Philly? Bought a 40 at the corner store. Big clear glass bottle. Hell no I didn't use a glass. Its a 40. Bright yellow with white foam that sits on the top. Looks just like I expect a malt liquor to look. Aroma is skunky right off the bat. Clear glass does nothing positive for beer. Some grainyness and a bit of biscuit, but the skunk overwhelms. The taste is meh. Light and watery. Nothing special, but nothing too offensive either. Mouthfeel is light and fizzy. Really not a bad beer. It's malt liquor. Cheap and inoffensive.

Brutal concentrated urine color, no head, just rough adjunct malt liquor appearance. Aroma was largely alcohol and corny sweetness with the addition of some of the fragrance from a garage that specializes in doing car repairs/maintenance.

Very thin body, rawkus taste, alcohol so pronounced. Residual corn sweetness only seems to further contribute to the rough experience. No hops. Like drinking that corn based ethanol. 85 Octane. Carbonation is high, which usually can help alleviate a horrible taste from resonating too long, but here, it just seems like you get all the crap stuck in your sinus cavity because of it. The taste permeates your whole face and torso.

This is one of the tougher challenges to choke down.

Had during a Halloween party that a friend was having. Someone brought several of these along for some reason. I poured myself a glass and off I went. It was about as pointless of a beer as anything I can remember. No head, kinda smooth but no flavor. Still haven't found a good tasting 40 yet.

10:00 Am on a Thursday. At only 1.79 just after my wife and I got into a bad fight. Seemed like the thing to do at the time. Looked a bit darker than most light lagers. They lady on the other end of the 800# assured me there was no HFCS. Smelled pretty sweet wth a little alcohol. Tasted too sweet but went down pretty easy. Could have downed anouther if I hadn't had anything else to do today. I agree with most, don't drink it unless you need a cheap buzz.

Very pale pour, I think this might be the lightest of the malts I have tried over the last week, with the same fizzy white head that disappears almost instantly though the ever present streams of carbonation all seem to still be coming up from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is corn, alcohol, and a mess of wet hay. Just not what you want to come home to. This follows over to the flavor almost exactly as it was just all over the place, but maintained that almost day old bread like taste mixed with astringent alcohol and moldy cereal. Slick feel and just an almost gag inducing aftertaste. Just not built for this one at all.

OK first off I bought this beer because it is the end of the pay cycle and I was really just looking for something that would, 'get it done'. Enough said really. This beer sums up the phrase, "you get what you pay for". the coloring is very pale, the smell is lackluster and the taste is palatable, at the least. Only reason I gave the taste a 3.5 is due to the high alcohol level numbing the taste buds halfway through. This is a utilitarian beer to say the least, NEVER would I buy this for enjoyment. I don't suggest getting it, however, if you're in a bind I would recommend this or a 40 of Ole E.

Happy New Years!

Very cheap, don't have to plug your nose to get it down, and it's pretty cheap. Do not mind gettin one of these down and it keeps my pockets thick. Call me crazy, but I'd say this is better than most shit beers. Did I mention that it's quite inexpensive.

Appearance: Clear deep golden in color with a large white head, which soon utterly vanishes, leaving only scattered patches of foam and no lacing. There are lots of fat, slow-rising bubbles, however.

Aroma: Typical lager aroma with sweet corn and a slight, light tropical fruit note, no discernable hop presence. Mercifully, despite the clear glass bottle, there is no skunk aroma.

Taste: Opens with a cooked corn note, and a faint alcohol presence, soon followed by a slight metallic hop presence, which lingers on and on.

Mouth feel: A bit thin, with stinging carbonation, rather soda-like.

Drinkability/notes: This is not among the best malt liquors that I have had, but at less than two dollars, tax included, for a forty ounce bottle, it is hard to feel particularly bitter.

Presentation: Packaged in a forty ounce clear glass bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass.

40 into an unamed glass for which reason im not exactly sure.

A: pours fizzy yellow, no head, not even over the etchings.
S: smells like fuel and cooked corn and vegetables.
T: like corn water, with maybe a hint of malt. but it is mostly watery, and is an easy drain pour.
M/D: mouthfeel of sparkling water, and the only reason it is drinkable is because it tastes so much like water.

I wanna be a young man again!! My buddies and I drank this all the time! We were "wiggers" and would getsix 40ozers for$10 bucks. I remember when we used to drink down to the label then fill it back up with orange juice!

A: I always like the look of this. I dont know why buy I just loved the golden white foam color.

S: Oh it smells god awful. Smells like a skunk pissed in a natural ice supply. Best to drink while holding your nose.

T: Very malty, heavy and disgusting. Just dont taste it. Swallow it quickly. But by your 2nd one you wont care about taste,

M:Heavy,hoppy,and "vomitty" taste.

Overall, I was happy with this one, and also glad that even though I drank it out of a clear 40 oz. bottle, served in a tall beer glass, it was neither skunky nor slimy. Hurricane has a thick white head and a clear, golden color. Aroma is almost undetectable. Carbonation is medium. Mouth-feel is medium as well. This malt liquor is just as it's described: robust, bold, and slightly sweet. It finishes very smooth. I enjoyed it and would drink it again, although I'd like to find it in cans.
