12 oz brown bottle with a freshness code that you can't decipher.

Bright and clear pale amber color, tiny bubbled off white lace holds together very well. Hint of toasted maltiness and spicy herbal hops in the aroma. A Very clean nose. Solid medium body with a decent smoothness with a slightly deep crispness. Toasted grain seems to be king of the palate as both a mild malt sweetness and spicy herbal hop try and topple it but to no avail. Balanced, sure. Clean semi-dry finish.

This sits some where between the lighter colored versions we are seeing some of the Germans brew and the darker versions that are brewed in the US. As with any beer from AB their focus is clearly on drinkability which runs quite high here without really affecting the flavor. This style is supposed to be very clean so they seem to have hit the mark. Certainly the better of the Michelob pack IMO.

Full white head on a clear dark amber golden colored beer.

Mellow week aroma like most AB products.

The taste is mild but a bit darker and a bit better than most AB beers I've tried. Seems like the used either more or better malts with this product then I'm accustomed to with this company.

A slight Bud like aftertaste without much tastes sticking around with this light bodied beer.

Pretty much the standard fare from these guys, maybe slightly better with this one.

Wow, its has been so long ago that I had this beer as part of a michelob sample pack. I liked it at the time, it was one of the first "premium beers" I ever tried. If I were to try to rate it today I would have to say that the appearance was the most marzen thing about the beer.
Smell, come on its an AB product, it had little smell a bit more than their normal lagers.
Taste, I remember it being semisweet with a little more biscuit malt. It was pleasant, but very weak for a marzen, there was none of the earthy tastes I would now expect from the style. Certainly not a great example of style, but will always hold a place for me, because without it I might still drink bud lite only.
