All said and done this beer is great. If your homeless like me. On a good day I can make about $30 by pan-handling, on average more like $9, this beer is perfect. Being a lifetime alcoholic three of these bad boys (about $3,50) got me wicked friggin buzzed khed. For what Hurricane is, it's worth the price. It allows me to sleep drunkenly in below freezing temperatures, deal with my painful gout, teeth and side effects of hepatitis. This is the best bum beer ever. While some of my rival fellow bums spend up
To $5.00 on steel reserves and 4loko, I can get piss drunk off three cans for less than four bucks and still afford a couple mcChickens and a hit of dope. God bless America. "Hurricane, the homeless' Heady Toper"

Hurricane High Gravity Malt Liquor aslo known as Hurricane High Gravity Lager. I got a 25 oz of this to do a review. Poured this into a glass. The Color is a drak amber. Small white head after the first pour. Smell was ok nothing to bad ...The tease was not the greatest but not the worst. You can tell the 8.1 abv in this brew. I will say this the can says be bold and it is bold be smooth and it is smooth going down. Mouthfeel was ok. Overall this brew is a 3 nothing good but nothing bad. I good brew if you want one or you are low on cash. I will take you where you want to go.

Served from a 25 ounce tallboy into a 10 ounce sampler. The label on the can assures me that this is a "Category 5" hurricane. I put the rest of the can in the fridge, to ensure it stays nice and cold. A moderate pour produces a short-lived frothy head of about an inch. The residual lacing is confined to a thin partial ring around the glass and a little islet of foam where the carbonation is most active. The beer is a pale straw-orange, with robust carbonation.

It has a pretty clean aroma and taste, with light maltiness and some aroma-flavors suggestive of corn mash, maybe a little bit of biscuity or cracker-like flavors, with the obligatory kiss of hops. Rather slick on the palate. The aftertaste is very clean, with just a little bit of earthy bitterness and sweetness. Alcohol warming is evident as the beer progresses, with some fruity alcohol aromas as the beer warms. Best to keep it cold!

This beer is very smooth for a malt liquor, yet is generally more flavorful than other AB products. It's basically like a Busch or Natural beer with extra alcohol, and well worth the $1.75 for the tall boy. This would be a good red beer candidate (i.e., a tomato juice beer). If I was homeless, this would be my go-to beer- been there, done that, with a few quaffs of Night Train and Old English "buzz bomb" 40s....way back in the day.

Note: my review stats might seem high here, but I'm judging the beer on what it is- cheap, strong lager beer for those times when you just want something light in body yet high in alcohol...or when you're broke. Cheers!

A - Pours out a very pale yellow with a fleeting head and some surprising lacing on the glass.

S - Corn and cooked grain but not unpleasant.

T - Adjunct dominated with an alcohol finish that can be strong at warmer temps.

M - Very neutral with a dry finish.

O - To me this is one of if not the best in this class (high ABV/low cost). You really need to drink this one cold. The 8.1 % ABV is not all that evident and this one can sneak up on you fast. There are some really bad HGs out there and this isn't one of them.

look its a malt liquor , not just a malt liquor but a high gravity malt liquor

A - pale but not too thin
s - malty strong its a HG
T- well you'll need to get used to these , if you only drink thin beer you probably won't handle this but drink a veriety , drink some malt liquor , it becomes easier to drink

its sweet and harsh but not very harsh compared to most HGs but imo shlitz HG tastes better

M thin but girthy its easy to chug but will give you a full drink.

over all buy it if you want to party under $5 for 2 25 oz cans

steel reserve is more rugged , hurricane is a bit sweeter
bother arent bad

but the point about these is the value you can buy a 12 pack for $9 and 2 25 oz for $5 so dirt cheap

Decent amount of white head that quickly reduces to a ring. A few lacings.
Smell is coppery corn with some grain also.
Taste is candy sweet with a smidgeon of bitter if you wait long enough.
Mouthfeel is fine for the style, slick and not over carbonated.
Overall a good Malt Liquor. However, I can feel a headache creeping up on me and I haven't come close to finishing this can.
From a 24 ounce can, I couldn't get my son to help me with this one.

Our corner shop doesn't have much variety, so I tend to try anything new that they get in. Dark gold-brown beer with not much head but lots of carbonation. Smells of musty corn and metal. It tastes, well, bad. Like watery, stale ginger ale with a hint of copper. I'm not picky at all when it comes to beer (you'll often find Natty Light or PBR in my fridge), but this is one that I won't ever be drinking again.

24 ounce can
Served in a pint glass

A - It is gold in color and effervescent. I got about two inches of white head.

S - It is sweet smelling with some grain and grass aromas.

T - It is sweet with a grain-like taste.

M - Thin

O - If drinking a 24 ounce can on the way home from work were legal, I would do it. It is cheap and gives some bang for the buck.

This is from a 24oz can.

A- A slightly darker yellow than a Budweiser. Leaves a good amount of frothy head and a tiny bit of lacing.

S- Musky corn, alcohol

T- It tastes like a very corn forward beer and alcohol. Very little, if any malt. Metal taste. Once it warms up, the alcohol taste is #1 and the corn is even more evident.

D- I don't find this too drinkable, unless it's super cold.

M- It has a good amount of carbonation, light although slick.

O- Overall, I feel this is just a high abv% corn based beer with no malt in it. I thought it would be a nice malty malt liquor, but this was not the case. I'm pretty disappointed in this.

Enjoyed from a can into a weizenbier glass.

A: Deep yellow/ golden, moderate amount of streaming bubbles, no head to speak of.

S: Sweet, corn, small amount of booze, pretty mild on the nose.

T: Sweet, grain, more flavor as time went on,minimal amount hop bitterness on the end. The booze wasn't really apparent to me.

M:Light like water

O:For the style it's a decent malt liquor, pretty darn drinkable for the ABV. If your a malt liqour fan you would most likely enjoy this very much so.

Appearance - light gold body, with a stark-white, one-and-a-half finger head that sticks around for a while and leaves some lacing.

Aroma - sweet, adjuncty, no malt, and some alcohol.

Taste - Sweet, grainy, and a prevalent punch of alcohol. It's pretty well balanced, but I'm personally not a fan of alcohol-forward beers.

Finish - dry, crisp, refreshing.

Overall, it's good for a boozy, party beer.

Appearance - Pours a clear, perfect golden color with a half inch head that dissipates instantly. Leaves a nice creamy looking lacing.

Smell - Has an amazing aroma.. Very sweet, malty, lemony, and corny. After a few whiffs you can start detecting the alcohol though..

Taste - The high ABV surprisingly isn't as bad as I thought it would be. But it's still not enjoyable whatsoever.. lol. The malts aren't so present. All I really taste is corn and grains dominated by alcohol. Might as well go buy some liquor.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with high carbonation.

Overall - I'll never try this again. I didn't even drink half of a beer and I'm feeling sick to my stomach.

M - light to medium bodied, warm, decently carbonated

This is by no means a great beer, but when viewed by style it's not bad. It has some drinkability despite its off flavors. It's dirt cheap. If money's tight (like maybe you're a teacher and it's summer like me) then these are the kind of beers you look for.

Executive Summary:
It's a cheapo beer, for sure, but it's probably one of the best in its class.

A: light straw color, with a bit of cream-colored head when poured. this disspates quickly, though.

S: a bit of ethanol tang, and mild corny notes.

T: a teeny alcohol burn within a bit of pleasant light corn-syrup sweetness; fades into a slightly sour but still not-unpleasant malt aftertaste.

M: light and gentle, just a bit of carbonation sparking upon the tongue

O: If one's strapped for booze-cash, this here is the way to go. There aren't many US malt liquors that are good at all when enjoyed warm (as is my preference) -- this is one of them. That's a high accolade for such a cheap brew; AB has done something very right with this mass-market product, though I have a feeling the name might not be such a good thing down along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts!

Aroma is - hello? Aroma! I don’t get a whiff of anything that resembles beer. It pours a clear yellow with a fairly thick and fluffy white head, but this is the brew’s strongest point. Flavor is at least present, but it is just malty, no complexity or depth, and leaves a tinny aftertaste. Texture is smooth, a bit thin, and barely fizzy at all. I bought it just to try something different. At least it helps me appreciate craft brews.

24 oz can into a big ass chilled mug.

A - Golden straw yellow body. 2 finger white head dies down to some edging.

S - Sweet corn and grain.

T - Corn and grain. A metallic and medicinal finish. Alcohol. Why is there so much alcohol? Its so thin and light in flavor and then BAM. Alcoholic warmth.

O - Pretty standard malt liquor flavor that gets pretty boozy in the end. Not a great beverage, but damn this packs a punch.

Reviewed from notes.

A. Pale clear golden color with a brief spate of fizziness for a head, very minimal speckles of lace left behind as it recedes.

S. A brief moment of honeydew melon aroma that pulls back behind sweet corn and grainy mash aroma. No real alcohol hotness in the aroma here.

T. Somewhat boring and bland sweet malts with the fusel alcohol hotness that was missing from the aroma fully present in the aftertaste somehow. At least I didn't have to smell them.

M. Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation.

Surprisingly good compared to most of the other malt liquors I have tasted lately. And that oddball honeydew melon smell was actually quite nice.

Poured from 40 oz. bottle into pint glass

Appearance – A medium golden color with a slightly off white head upon pouring. The head faded fast and gave way to the light film and very little lacing.

Smell – Some corn and a bit of malty bread. Both lighter and mild.

Taste – The taste is mainly bready with a bit of biscuit and corn. A bit of sweetness is present initially then fades a bit toward the middle of the taste only to come back more at the end of the taste. With the sweetness that comes at the end, a alcohol flavor also comes in giving a little bit of “burn” aftertaste. While the sweetness is there throughout, it is not as sweet as many malt liquors out there and dryer in flavor.

Mouthfeel – Very light for an 8.1 % abv beer. The body is more like a standard 5% lager; light with a higher level of carbonation.

Overall – What can I say, kind of a standard malt liquor in flavor only a bit lighter in sweetness and body. It is very easy to drink due to its lighter qualities (sweetness body), although that may not be a good thing due to its heavier qualities (abv.)

24 fl oz aluminum can served into a nonical Guinness pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. Expectations are extremely low. Acquires at a Ralph's market nearby.

Served refrigerator cold. Allowed to warm over the course of consumption.

A: Pours a two finger head of no cream at all, fair thickness, and impressive retention - for the brewery. Kind of fluffy. Otherwise, the retention is above average - a solid two minutes - really not too shabby for an 8.1% beer. Colour is a clear dark yellow.

Sm: Stale barley, some cream, and some dull malts. A mild strength aroma. Not unpleasant, but certainly bland and boring. Uninviting.

T: Some cream on the open and finish, with some bland malts as the foundation alongside slightly stale barley. Here's a beer from Anheuser-Busch that actually has a body - who knew? Dominated by a crappy artificial malt character. It's quite dull and boring, with nothing of interest structurally or flavor-wise. Some sort of crisp malt note is okay. Imbalanced and badly built, but not as bad as I expected.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with some stale cream, and a strange crispness. Overcarbonated. Too thick.

Dr: Hard to drink due to its low quality. Hides its ABV poorly. Very well priced if you're looking to get unconscious drunk. Might make a good frat beer. I wouldn't have it again.

That said, it's surprisingly unshitty coming from this brewery. A polished turd from AH.

All this time searching and coming to dead end after dead end... does a decent malt liquor even exist? Hurricane isn't bad, but i'm gonna keep looking. Not the best name, probably just slightly less tasteful than Crazy Stallion, all things considered.

Pale orange, slow moving carbonation, served pretty cold. Rings of lace in the glass, thin skim across the surface that breaks after the first sip or two... not that it matters much really. Let's face it, you're reading a malt liquor review.

Smells like wet grains, slight musty dishrag notes at first. Minerally with a flash of apple sweetness. Alcohol is strangely and thankfully absent.

Flavors of apple and wet manila folders. Ritz crackers and vague sweetness. Light body and easygoing feel when cold. Dry and surprisingly clean aftertaste. Maybe not all that surprising, coming from AB: King of (consistently bland) Beers. Wonder what kind of adjuncts they threw in here to jack up the ABV. The cleanliness of this malt liquor is it's best asset, and it never becomes harsh like so many others. One thumb halfway up.

Poured into a pint glass.

It's yellow with high clarity and active bubbles. For as cheap as it is it has good head retention.

It's smell is negligable. Grainy? Straw?

It's taste is vaguely floral and grainy.

It's light bodied and watery.

OK, the first sip of this beer was torture. But it got a bit better as my tastebuds got used to the idea. In this small window this beer needs to be finished quickly, because as it warms it becomes awful again. It makes me feel young again, holding my nose to drink the first few.
