Appearance: Quite dark in color, a clear deep reddish brown, with a thin white head which retains quite well, with thick, scattered lacing.
Aroma: Decent aroma of toasted malts, and a slightly sweet note, and a mild herbal hop character.
Taste: A wave of toasted malt at the beginning of the taste, this carries through to the finish. The close of the taste is dry, with a restrained bitterness. Pleasant, although not particularly complex.
Mouth feel: Soft on the palate, a touch thin, with slight, zesty carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: I suspect that this beer was created to capture some part of the Shiner Bock market in Texas. It is certainly better than Shiner Bock, in my opinion, and is a suitable candidate for a fall back beer. This is certainly among the better Anheuser-Busch products.
Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce brown glass bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass.
Serving type: bottle
