Pours a dark amber with a medium-thin head that disappears quickly. Aroma is caramel malt and faint hops.
Taste is mild caramelized malt, very little bitterness. Faint spice, nice malty backbone but not a lot of depth. Mouthfeel is light, well-carbonated, a little thin for my tastes. Nothing really offensive about this one, but nothing really outstanding either.
As the label states, "Brewed and Available Only in Texas" (I believe it goes by Michelob Amber elsewhere; if not, they taste about the same). A large brewery's attempt at competing with a smaller, local favorite (Shiner).
