Well the first thing I have to say is that when I had a couple of these, I had no idea this was an Anheuser-Busch product. And I'm glad I didn't know that. I fear it might have tainted my thoughts of the beer. After writing this review and then reading some of the others already posted, I swear I can see some folks ragging on this because it's made by A-B.
Bottom line, not a bad little Pumpkin brew. Enjoyed it.
Served on Tap and came with a thin one finger creamy head. The beer was light amber in color with a great deal of orange tones.
The bar did serve the first pint with some cinnamon/sugar on the rim.
This was an interesting touch, but I asked for a later pint without the addition.
Aroma was bread like and I certainly smelled the strong scent of aroma of cinnamon on the first pint, and a faint aroma on the second one. I was mostly left with the sense of smelling baked pumpkin bread.
I really enjoyed the flavor and thought the pumpkin taste was nicely balanced. Just enough spice to know you were drinking a seasonal but not overpowering. Again, thoughts of eating pumpkin bread. I really enjoyed the bread like flavor of the beer.
Mouth feel was medium/light bodied and nicely drinkable.
I'm sorry, but I tried this and Southern Tier Pumking on the same evening. This was better. I am a Southern Tier fan but in my opinion the reason that is rated and A- and this C+ is because of the brewery that makes the product. I'm glad I tried and reviewed this ignorant of the brewer. If you want a pumpkin ale to celebrate fall, try this.
